It’s odds against a late night tryst Oblivion or horizontal bliss If I can’t stop doing the twist She’ll curse these restless legs (I’d slot it between verse 3 and 4)

Sad news and a real shock. An interesting character in music, and someone who showed such integrity around what little he would take from the many huge records he worked on. I particularly love his work with […]

Very sad news. Such a fantastic songwriter, gone too soon. Some classics selected above. As a teenager in the 90s, I discovered World Party around the Egyptology LP and always loved this one too:

@fentonsteve @martin-horsfield It’s not a case of Liam getting a new big name guitarist, John Squire has written all the material alone and was looking for someone to sing it. I think it will be a separate […]

It’s his first entirely instrumental LP, and a nice listen. Available on his Bandcamp and the usual streamers etc.

Maybe Stevie Nicks or Shania Twain? That’s my best guesses for Sunday teatime.

kidpresentable commented on the post, What is your go to song/riff when picking up a guitar? 1 year ago
Maybe a few bars of Blackbird on an acoustic, or the main riff from Love Is The Law if it’s electric. I find that one a good warm-up excersize. This is on the proviso that it’s a left handed guitar. I can just […]

I was a big fan of The White Room tape that came with Q, and an NME tape called The Reading Present (or similar). I think I’ve also still got a few of these.

I found the article quite refreshing. Particularly the reference to last year’s naff inclusion. The Mercury’s often feel like a wildly inconsistent affair, but I don’t know how you subjectivity choose what’s […]

That’s a great setlist, genuinely not sure what would be a deepcut there. It’s not like they’re playing the 7 inch b-sides. The golden era is realistically from the early EPS to Dear Catastrophe Waitress, so I’d […]

I was out from starting the engine, to reaching a public road, in about an hour this year. However, is has taken me 3 hours some years. I intentionally left about 2pm on Monday when it had largely calmed […]

I was there, 13th time for me (did 2002, then every year from 2008 to present). Aside from the challenges made by the punishing heat, it was a great weekend. Sophie Ellis-Bexter was the musical highlight for […]

An interesting read and sorry you didn’t enjoy it. It was a 100% different experience to mine. I was queued up to get in at 5am on Weds and left the site around 2pm on Monday. I had no serious issues getting to […]

I think it’s too immersive for that. I’ve been 13 times in the last 20 years and never once left the site during the 5 days of the festival. I did however go to Worthy Pastures in 2021 (when they opened the […]

Yes, it’s never been filmed. There are around 100 stages / performance areas and the BBC film 5 of them. For the smaller stages, I prefer it without tbh. I caught some great stuff at the Acoustic Stage this year, […]

The retail edition of Archives 2 was a decent price, and I think he’s done with Blu-ray audio. I’m looking forward to volume 3, though I’m settling my expectations for this potentially taking longer than advertised…

It must feel like unfinished business, getting this one done. I’m looking forward to it. I still really liked the two Anthology singles. The updated mixes on the One dvd are worth a listen for anyone who hasn’t heard them.
