Excellent stuff, plenty of which I’ve not heard before or not heard for years. When I first discovered pop music in the mid 80s most of this kind of thing simply wasn’t straight pop enough for me, then a couple of […]

Yup, after a while I gave investigating anything further and just ripped the tracks I liked to itunes safe in the knowledge that I’d be unlikely to be missing much. Some very good tracks but no good albums that I remember.

Twin Peaks and Blue Velvet had a huge effect on me in my late teens. However must admit I’ve seen very few of his films and not watched one for years because never has a film irritated me as much as Mullholand […]

It’s a very good album and I probably actually revisit it more than I do the Bunnymen. That Liz Fraser duet is particularly fine.

Oh that’s very good. No idea how this passed me by at the time as it is/was right up my street. Must investigate further.

Not sure many people noticed that Ian McCulloch had a bit of a solo career back in the day. And I’m sure even fewer remember it now. But I’ve always loved this.

While the Sisters of Mercy were primarily goth of course, the singles of Floodland were certainly big… As was the hair.

The House of Love were, very briefly, the future in 1988. By the time this lovely song came out – all of 3 years later – nobody cared. I’m sure even fewer do now unfortunately.

I’m looking forward to this for the same reasons. But, bloody hell, aren’t actors annoying when they’re not acting and instead talking about it?

I like Dylan over and above any other artist ever. But not for the words especially. The music, the melodies, the voice (in almost all its stages), the history. And I love how certain words and lines jump out at […]

Reporting back after the first listen after many many years. Reckless is dreadful I’m afraid (IMO of course). As others say below Summer of 69 is a great, great song, but the rest not even close. Actually painful. […]

Reckless was the first album I bought that wasn’t a compilation – so basically the first record whose title didn’t start ‘Now that’s what I call music Vol…’. I guess I was 12. I loved it briefly but soon went […]

Nice review. Possibly the first ‘cool’ record I ever bought, in 1986 probably, when I was 14. I had a C90 with Stop Making Sense and Little Creatures on it, both of which I loved so I thought I’d try another of […]
