When it came out, I bought the 7-inch. I love stuff that trundles along at that song’s pace. Back in the day, I managed to do a crude, longer version, using – I think – my turntable, and a couple of cassette d […]

Welcome to my brain! I love it, so don’t mind it as an earworm. Seems to have replaced the long version of Flash and The Pan’s Waiting For a Train.

Doris has never failed me yet, but if she got stuck then I’d wheel out Adriano Celentano’s ‘Prisencolinensinainciusol’. Ol rait? Boom, boom, boom, diddly-dit…

I’m semi-retired. I’m taking my local government pension now, but still doing some paid work. I have the luxury of being able to say ‘no, sorry’. I also do a lot of design work for myself, which I sell as finishe […]

One of the tile manufacturers in the Bridgwater area in the past made green roof tiles – single Romans? Very rare now, though there’s a house about two miles away which has them. Our roof is black. They also did a […]

I can see Westonzoyland from upstairs in our house. I can also see the Quantocks, Blackdowns and the crinkly bits by Langport.

In your near vicinity, Wells is well worth a visit; market days are Wednesday and Saturday. Frome has Rave From the Grave records, and some lovely shops. Market Saturday. Glastonbury is unhinged, but like the […]

Chedzoy in the same county is either as spelled, Ched-zee or Chid-gey. Greinton is Gren-tun. Crewkerne in Dorset is often Crook-urn, and take your pick for Beaminster; Beh-minster or Bem-stir. Puncknowle = Punnel.

The north coast has some crinkly bits. Around Stiffkey, it reminds me of Wiltshire; chalk underneath, soft valleys. The saltmarsh between there and Wells is lovely, and the beaches between there and Burnham Overy […]
