DavidB wrote a new post, Lovely Tull Covers 3 weeks ago
If you’re a Tull fan, or just appreciate someone covering songs with love and care, check out Stewart Wood. He’s covering through pretty much all of the Tull/Ian Anderson back catalogue.
All the videos have a […] -
DavidB wrote a new post, Gentle Giant fan video – with the band members 4 months, 2 weeks ago
Not sure if this was posted previously, but I stumbled across it today when going down a Gentle Giant rabbit hole on Youtube.
Seeing the former band members performing gave me a lot of pleasure, as did the other […] -

I was a basketball naysayer until I went to see the Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
It was only by seeing a live game that I could appreciate the poetry in motion of a well-executed play.
And it was […]

For a long time, Jethro Tull would end their concerts with Aqualung and Locomotive Breath. Both classics, to be sure, but their predictable positioning and never varying arrangement made it all too tempting to […]

I watched the final and was appalled by the tedious, incessant booing every time Italy had the ball.
Is that a new thing (I haven’t watched any of the other matches)?
It was just so….mindless. Pointless. […]

Chrissie still looking as cool as fuck.
James Walbourne and Carwyn Ellis looking equally terrific.
And the mellowed out, […]

I’ve read the thread about British retail with interest, including the sense that we’ll miss WH Smiths and/or the High Street experience if they disappear.
This is a position which is often quoted about something […] -

This is very good.
BTW, what ever happened to the actor who played the main character in this? Did he go on to do much after Secret Service?

I like a bit of Ray, but is it cheating to just substitute lyrics with ‘baba-doos’?
Surely the real maestros in the field compose tunes with ‘doo-de-doos’ as the starting point?

The Follyfoot theme opens with some classic ‘baba-dahs’ and whatnot, to get this excellent tune underway.
But the PINNACLE of the genre is surely this fantastic Burt Bacharach tune:

I have been exploring the nether regions of The Association’s back catalogue after their smash hit ‘Along Comes Mary’ was used in the soundtrack of ‘The Queen’s Gambit’.
While their back catalogue offers very slim […] -

As a big Tull fan, it was a gigantic thrill to interview IA a few years ago. The interview went well, and I got a good story out of it.
But while his answers were generous and wide-ranging, I was actually more […]

Extra points for the couple at […]

I’ve been enjoying a bit of a Cat Stevens jag of late and can confirm that his best song is Matthew & Son.
But some of the Youtube clips of him performing it are…odd.
Here we have Cat giving it his all in a […] -

Of course, Jackie Lee sang 2 classic kids TV themes.
In addition to the gentle loveliness of White Horses, she wigged out on Rupert.
The theme song was the only reason to catch the incredibly dull adventures […]

By no means a banging tune…in fact quite the opposite…but the moaning, groaning ‘theme’ to Children of the Stones scared the crap out of me as a kid.
Listening to it again made me a little uneasy. What were […]
