I enjoyed it very much. The most ‘difficult’ part for me, was, as noted above, the lack of punctuation, paragraphs and chapters. Often I had to re-read sentences to understand them. Exciting and scary is how I […]

Surely there would have to be one by Stuart MacBride. I must have read nearly 10 of these Logan MacRae books over the years. I’ve read most of Rankine and Brookmyre too. Peter James is another, though not […]

It’s a great read if you’re a fan. Last year a box set became available. Full of everything about Marra. The title is in English obviously, but doesn’t really make any sense. If spoken in a Dundee accent, it […]

There’s an Italian restaurant on South Bridge in Edinburgh called Ciao Roma. Round the corner is a bar/restaurant called The Hispaniola. Years ago, the Italian restaurant owner bought the bar, knocked the wall […]

James Robertson is one of the most common names in Scotland. I have read his News Of The Dead, but more importantly, he wrote the biography of one of my favourites, Michael Marra.

Dunno, but if you’re talking about more popular music, there’s Big Country, The Skids and The Proclaimers.

Squeaky Clean is an easy read. The comings and goings of a car wash basically. Some west of Scotland parlance. Doug Johnstone is easily read too. Set in Edinburgh, though sometimes moving across the bridge to […]

Strange what they decide to release. The 3 Warren Zevon records were made with Giant, and none charted, so maybe they got permission cheap. I love Mr Bad Example. It didn’t chart, so Giant totally slashed Zevon’s […]

I renewed both my Samsung phone and tablet this year because certain apps wouldn’t work or update. The final straw came when I had to renew my driving license. To do this online, both phone and tablet needed to be […]

I’ve been pulling my hair out trying to decide which Jackson Browne LP to add to my new LP collection (see below), and I decided on his first. Great stuff! I am having a similar problem with Dylan, Springsteen, […]

Thanks Steve! I have almost all of these on cd. Not Kate and Anna though. Much as I love ‘different’ voices, I can’t get Kate’s.

I got rid of my turntable and LPs about 30 years ago. I have thought about vinyl often, but no way was I buying new hifi. I already have a(30 year old) mini hifi and a couple of Denon cd players so I have enough. […]

Not an unusual cover as such. 10,000 Maniacs and David Byrne doing ‘Let The Mystery Be’ by Iris Dement. I was delighted to come across this, as I’m a fan of all three. I have the 10,000 Maniacs Unplugged cd but […]
