Often in crime shows the solicitor in an interview scene is just a silent extra. As the detectives tear into the suspect, or as the suspect willingly confesses, their brief just sits there quietly, maybe […]

Andrew commented on the post, Taylor Swift – Tortured Poets Department Sales Figures 7 months ago
Those sales figures are for units sold but there’s presumably a significant number who’ll have bought the vinyl and CD. Or even the vinyls and CDs given there are multiple versions of each, each with a dif […]

Andrew commented on the post, The Handsome Family – any fans here? 7 months, 2 weeks ago
The first season of True Detective used one of their songs on its opening credits. So when I was on a trip to the big city many years ago I picked up quite a few of their albums in a Fopp sale. Which led to this […]

In a similar vein, I still hope that one day Rubicon will appear again somewhere. BBC4 showed it many years ago and I had it recorded but my box died when I’d only seen the first couple of episodes. This was a […]

Read your mention of Berlin and espionage and thought wonder if this was Berlin Station, and it is! More 4 showed the first two seasons of this ages ago but didn’t, so far as I ever realised, show the final s […]

When my brother, a maths teacher, married a drama teacher, I put a line in my best man speech: “Both teachers, when you have kids they’ll grow up knowing how to pretend to be a tree… with square roots”.

Digging out my Words from the attic for a re-read has been on my to-do list for a while.
Also need to find them to remind myself what my first issue was so I could try to complete my set too. The list of its […]

Excellent review. I’ve had this book on order for a while.

Presumably he’s been hiding his real name so no one realises he created the Daleks.
Loved reading each of the Bowie posts. Book ordered!

Oh, I already do. I’ve been a regular purchaser from Burning Shed for a several years and get their newsletter. It’s just I was focussed on other acts that I knew like Steven Wilson’s various projects.
I do re […]

They’re a fairly recent discovery for me. Looking forward to the new album, as love the songs already released from it.

I watched the entire run recently for the first time.
I feel it starts slowly, with mostly unlikeable characters. As it moves through ever-improving seasons the Rose family (mostly) become nicer people.
