At 5:00 p.m. today (UK time):

Listen again:

…though I am not Tim, nor Daisy!
And should be 23 November 1989!!
That’s Monday’s database-mangling soundtrack sorted, then!
Thank you @fentonsteve (again!)
Anything in particular you’d like/hope to hear?
Is ACR too obvious? How about Section 25’s Looking From A Hilltop? Or something by The Railway Children?
Never too obvious!!
You’ll have to listen right until the end, though…
@fentonsteve (and anyone else who may be interested!) here is the link to my “personal journey though a history of Manchester music”:

It seemed to go down well with the radio bosses, so future programmes may be directed towards Sheffield, Glasgow vs Edinburgh and Liverpool by postcode.
Any/all suggestions and requests welcomed.
Cor, the mighty Kajagoogoo*, Badly Drawn Boy and ACR.
I might give up on my record collection and just listen to you playing yours…
(*) You could also do a Leighton Buzzard themed show?
For a second there as I scanned your comment I thought you were suggesting a special based on Dr Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band.
Were they from Leighton Buzzard as well? The things you learn on the AW!
“Watching The Hydroplanes”- Tunnelvision….”Otis”-Durutti Column
So I Can See – The High
Timperley Sunset – John Squire (note to self – check artist)
Thank you @fentonsteve.
Thank you too to others for their suggestions. However – and unfortunately – I cannot play any of those, as the show was on 10 October…
..,Fear not, though! I am to do another “city programme” on 31 October – same time, same Bat Channel.
This one will be “An (Almost) A to Z of Sheffield Music”.
Feel free to start sending in your requests now, as I haven’t yet finalised the songs to be played.
In the interregnum, back on GNet Radio on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. (UK time) with a Songs From Under The Floorboards U.S. special.
Something from Age of Chance’s Sonic Metal Disco. I know they were from That Leeds but this was recorded in FON… And it’s ace.
From Hull but about Sheffield:
I hear the steeltown is closing down,
All the mills are rusting.
Everybody’s got a new car,
With the redundancy money they pay.
Things are looking grim,
See the wolves, they’re closing in.
It doesn’t matter how I vote,
The same confederacy of fools get in.
John Rowley is actually from Sheffield, and is back living there these days.
Any of the hits of ABC, ver League, Heaven 17, maybe one of the BEF with guest vocal tracks.
Something by the Cabs – Just Fascination, perhaps?
The Pulps – Babies or Pink Glove.
Anything from by Richard Hawley.
Which also makes me think… Longpigs – She Said.
And he produced A Girl Called Eddy’s first album, or is that too tenuous?
Arctic Monkeys – I bet you look good on the Dancefloor.
John Shuttleworth – Y Reg.
I’ll think of some more in another 5 mins.
Some Comsats please Lord Bigglesworth.
Yes – “Now I Know” or “After the Rain”, possibly.
@duco01
Excellent choices if I may say so. Or how about Be Brave?
Thank you all for some excellent suggestions…
…Most are on the likely playlist – just see if I can fiddle the 1 or 2 “indirect” artists somewhere along the line.
1,000 Violins, LFO, Chakk, Bassomatic, Vision and (even) early Def Leppard also under consideration, as well as more than one Cocker.
Will post an update/reminder nearer the time…
Early Def Leppard…sounds good!
