Just saw that Low are going back to UK for Christmas shows and have ordered my ticket. Made by Day. Looking forward to some chilly serenity. What is making your day?

Musings on the byways of popular culture
MY day – why can I edit my comments but not my own words…..or why can’t I check my own typing π Anyway still giddily excited….and Lloyd Cole coming soon too. A good year :0
..and have realised that of course I can, just not looking in the right place – more good news π
Ears fully recovered from RetroMan’s birthday blast at The Half Moon (Len Price 3 supporting Graham Day & The Forefathers).
Off to Union Chapel in about 15 mins to see Michele Stodart & others at Daylight Music. Then this evening off again to see Ska band “The Silencerz” at The Chandos Arms.
did G Day used to be a Buff Medway? (top 10 band names BTW)
He was.
He’s also been a Prisoner, a Mighty Caeser, A Solarflare, a Senior Servant and a Gaoler.
It’s all a bit “close” down the Medway Delta – there are only so many musicians down there, so everyone has been in everyone elses band.
In the end I thought better of going to see The Silencerz. A free ska gig in a pub on a Saturday night? Sure to be absolutely rammed and with a high drunken dickhead count.
Last night I consumed several pints of Wadworth 6x whilst enjoying the music of the Unravelling Wilburys at the Cellar Bar in Devizes. This morning I woke early and remembering I’d promised middle child that I’d take her to see Ward Thomas in Bristol on the evening of her 11th birthday. Onto the website of the Bristol Ticket Shop I went – and bought two of the remaining three tickets they had available.
And no hangover.
BTS were showing Low as sold out but got ticket direct from St George’s OK π
I can only surmise that they get an allocation of the available tickets – but I do like that they cover most venues and their booking fees aren’t silly. My boy wants to go the the Brick show (lego) in Swindon next month. Tickets bought in advance attract a booking fee of Β£2 per ticket. Bloody rip off – especially when you only get an e-ticket to print off yourself
agreed – and BTS have sorted out a few (self inflicted) problems from yours truly over the years – most of the online promoters don’t want to know once they have your money. Good on them. Keep the positive mood going!
Listening to Art Blakey on Spotify. Why did no one make me listen to this before? A weekend with no work or preparation for next week. Bliss.
Listened to Mr Blakey & chums on the tube (earbuds) on my way home from Union Chapel a little while ago. “A Little Busy” was the track in question, from “The Witch Doctor”. Bobby Timmons’ piano particularly good.
Spent the afternoon cooking supper and listening to this playlist of Scando jazz that
I’ve put together in the last few days. on Spotify. So many fine tracks by artists I have never heard of. This bodes very well for future exploration.
