    One shot regained. For anyone else who follows real golf, my triple bogey yesterday followed me cursing Jordan Speith (my 40-1 choice this week) for tumbling down the leaderboard, dropping three shots on the second last hole. He was in contention before that. I can’t say that about myself!

  93. Has anyone done well staying up to get the next Wordle? Or waking up in the middle of the night and having a go. Hur hur.
    I have, quite a few times. If you haven’t then don’t.

    • Sleeping so poorly at the moment, constantly waking up between 2 and 3 every morning and then awake for a couple of hours minimum.
      So doing Wordle then to pass a few minutes.
      Currently -3!
      (This will not last)

    • I never get to bed before midnight. It’s a family trait on my side of the family. I’ve always done my word puzzles just before or after going to bed. (Wordle, Quordle and Phrazle). They switch my mind off from the real world quite effectively.

  133. Aaaand I’m back, unscathed if rather traumatised by 24 hrs sans internet. Good old medium wave has been our only source of info. Floods are going to be the issue here, but we’re above flood level in theory so fingers crossed. Thank for the good wishes lads.

    • Blimey indeed! Lot of people are doing it tough, but it seems that Alf has left us and the big cleanup will start tomorrow. Flooding wasn’t as bad overall as 2022, but there are still thousands of people without power. We feel very lucky – we’re above flood level, only lost power for a few hours a couple of times, and the water’s coming through nice and clear. And the supermarkets stayed open, though there wasn’t a baked bean to be had for love nor money in our local IGA today.
