Cut to the chase… the stuff really, really, really worth keeping – largely wasn’t.
The ho-hum, after-the-Lord Mayor’s show, stuff – largely was. Brilliant!
The music press kinda follows a similar path… “you’ll want to skip some songs, has a few catchy numbers, The Seekers’ new LP is a better bet” type reviews for Blonde on Blonde… gargantuan essays on the kinda stuff paul morley likes (i.e. shite) by paul morley or someone exactly like paul morley after the Golden Age. Triffic.
A great article, but depressing reading.
