Thanks Both, actually the site is still closed as I’ve not finished yet – must have left the back door open. Now out you two you can come back in later!
Shiny, fresh and blue.
A little refresh now and then is always a good thing.
Is there a technical reason for the update, or just a “New Year, New Look” thing.
Cheers all you techy bods – which reminds me, where is that Donate button?
Donate button:
– If you’re on a PC, there’s a “Donate” link at the top of the page.
– If you’re on mobile, when you click on the menu album, “Donate” is towards the bottom.
– Or, whatever you’re using, just click on: https://theafterword.co.uk/donate/
Should be live for everyone now. Hope you enjoy the new look. The reason for the change was I had some time over the Christmas hols to make some improvements, a lot has changed under the bonnet (any WordPress nerds out there might like to know we’ve switched to the Genesis framework which is industry standard, far less bloated and hopefully more stable the the one we previously ran on).
You should find that ‘reply’ works properly in iPads/Androids etc. If anyone finds any problems or has any comments or feedback on the new look please drop me a line.
Nice. I’m ordinarily a bit doubtful towards changes, but since my computer upheaval I’ve become used to fumbling about in search of new strange buttons to click, so nothing can disturb me anymore…
It looks good, and although I never had any problems with the old reply function myself, this is definitely much clearer and easier to use for everybody.
(But is Every Day really Egg Friday?)
I just noticed that on the old blogs a lot of posts have had the left side cropped, rendering them unreadable.
Well, there’s always a few snags in the beginning.
There’s an echo in here – didn’t see the previous reply. Also, I do want to reiterate that I think the new look is great, and think you’ve done a bloody marvellous job!
Edge is still under development, with bugs getting slowly ironed out over time. There’s expected to be an update to Windows 10 on Tuesday which should include some of these fixes.
Ooh I haven’t been so impressed by a makeover since New Labour and that nice Mr Blair. Whatever happened to him?
Seriously thanks for all the hard work you lovely Adminions!!
PS using IE11 on Windows Phone 8.1 at the moment and looks / works great. I’m sure it’ll be even better when I try it full screen tomorrow on my coal-powered laptop via Chrome in *cough* Home Vista *crap*.
Nicely done. I tried out the What’s new Diddley? option on updates with a meaningful and wise juxtaposition of words but the post was kindly ignored. I don’t see that box anymore now I’m on a proper desktop computer. I don’t really know what we would do with it. Perhaps it has been quietly dropped. Otherwise I will just say thank you for the upgrade. It sounds like it will make things better.
Do you want us to point out possible snags here? I can’t get the ‘edit posts’ link (top right, beneath ‘create content’ ) to recognise I’ve posted anything. Also, the direct links i.e. the @middlerabbit links don’t seem to work any more.
My new shoes are a little tight, too.
Yes, looks great, but am still getting the test card when I’m on my tablet. Will it be useable on there soon?

This one @minibreakfast?

@gcu-grey-area Hahaha! Amazing work, as ever, Jeece. You cheeky monkey.
Fine on iPad. THERES A REPLY BUTTON! ????
Oooh I can see it! Well done and thanks chaps. 🙂
Looks great. Much appreciated; as is the work that goes into running this site.

It reminds me of the pre-hack site, even though I can’t actually remember what the pre-hack site looked like. Nice job, but missing the orange.
This is what it looked like.

A brilliantly dumb-ass thread by way of illustration.
Aw, there’s a pic of my dear, departed Ethel.
Well that redeems it, as on closer inspection my behaviour on that thread fair plumbs the depths of childishness.

Let’s try on the Kindle…
Is that a slight indent I see?
No missus, I’m just pleased to see you.
*thwack*
Nice one, Tim. Just noticed that replies to a particular comment go in a little grey box beneath it. Neat!
I really like it.
Many thanks to all who worked to make this site all new & shiny.
Excellent job folks.
Looking good!
It looks great guys!
Very stylish, just like the old mag.
Thanks
I’m very well. Thanks for asking? And you?
You’ve all done very well.
Fanks!

Hello? Sorry, I seem to be in the wrong house.
Nice work chap(s).
And replies seem to go in the right place on iPhone! Hurrah!
Wait a minute – is it just me or can you no longer see which posts are new/unread?
That was rather handy, you know.
(Other than that, good work etc)
It’s not just you Locust…plus the auto referencing people’s blog name isn’t there…
I just noticed that on the old blogs a lot of posts have had the left side cropped, rendering them unreadable.
Well, there’s always a few snags in the beginning.
Hey! It’s happening here too! I feel like Princess Leia in that garbage press thingy!
Are you using Edge Locust? If so you’re not alone.
Yup. But right now it’s back to normal again (see below).
And then the edge disppeared again, as soon as I had hit reply…
Can everyone please start writing with margins? 🙂
*small voice* Er…have we lost the ‘New’ labels?
There’s an echo in here – didn’t see the previous reply. Also, I do want to reiterate that I think the new look is great, and think you’ve done a bloody marvellous job!
Yes I’ll restore the ‘New’ labels asap folks
A small thing: in Edge, somewhat ironically, the edge of the text disappears. I’m now viewing it in Chrome where there’s no problem.
After four months it’s my considered opinion that Edge is bobbins.
It disappears, but the next time you visit that blog it’s back again, then it goes…makes me feel a bit seasick!

Is there an eddit facility.
There is but clicking on it tells me ‘no entries found’.
Nice design, though – cheers, Tim.
Gno ther issent.
Like it, like it, yes I do. Nice to see the Podcasts front and centre on the Home page too (alright not literally).
Ooh I haven’t been so impressed by a makeover since New Labour and that nice Mr Blair. Whatever happened to him?
Seriously thanks for all the hard work you lovely Adminions!!
Nice. Very nice indeed.
Love it, really good: looks great, easy to use, works well. Thanks very much Tim, and also to the other Admins generally.

Looks grand – well done and thanks!
I preferred the 1971 version. Does it look any better on vinyl?
Looks fine on a Windows phone running the latest preview release of Windows 10 Mobile.
I like it!
And the “New” indicators are back now as well.
Well done Adminions (© Sewer Robot).
Bravo!

I see What’s new….? is in fact still there.
Ding dong!
Very posh ! Good job chaps
Terrific crisp look. Really smart on my Winders 8.1 phone in IE 11 too. Congrats all round.
The mobile experience (Android / Chrome) seems tons better so far. Thanks and well done.
Thanks for all your kind comments! It’s all Tim’s hard work, he’s worked his buns off on this, I’m not taking any credit for this one.
A polished performance Tim. Liking it hugely especially as I can now log in. I was having problems doing so last night, no idea why but it’s fine now.
Looks great – thanks !

Marvellous!
Very swish. Reminds me of the very first Word forum. Well done and thanks Tim.
Luxury. All we ‘ad were black pixels.

Love it. Absolutely love it.
Odd. I haven’t deleted or moved those photos from Photobucket, but they aren’t there now.
Thank you Tim for making the world a bit less orange.
Thanks Tim. I wasn’t expecting this and it’s a lovely surprise and it looks great.

Thanks for the kind effort
Hoorah! I seem to be able to access the podcasts now.
Blimey! This is different.
