I thought there might be interest in seeing what was judged to be the best films the last time there was an Afterword best film poll. The poll winners were the standard popular films, but what was more interesting was each voter’s number one favourite film. Here is an alphabetical list (first comment):

I thought about nominating Tampopo this time as well, but I didn’t really see this poll as being about our personal favourites, more which films we could all enjoy (and as much as I hope that most people would love Tampopo if they saw it, I doubt there are enough fans of it here to get it into the top…)
Blue Boy says
Interesting that neither Local Hero nor Third Man are on that list even though they look like potential front runners in KFD’s list. Figures. Our absolute favourites of anything are often likely to be things many people will dislike.

That is interesting reading. When did this take place? I notice, to my shame, that I didn’t even contribute.
One of the things that was lost when the site crashed, I presume. I’m glad you held onto it. It’s a wonderfully eclectic list.
An interesting theory, Blue Boy. There’s not much on that list that I would not enjoy, but I am extremely (excessively, some would say) eclectic in my taste.

Which Crash, @corganiser?

@Moose the Mooche. Apologies for the delay – I’ve been away awhile. As dark as my personality is you may be relieved to know it is the 2004 Paul Haggis film and not the 1996 film of the same name. The Haggis film challenged (and still does whenever I re-watch) my attitude to prejudice and whether I’m as clean as I think I am.
