Bullitt (Main Title)
One of my favourite evenings of live music was seeing Lalo Schifrin and a full orchestra performing music from his extensive repertoire of film music at the Velodrome in San Sebastián in – checks notes – 1998. Fabulous. He’d just done the soundtrack to Carlos Saura’s Tango and was a guest of the film festival that year.
Also responsible for the best album title ever – ‘There’s a Whole Lalo Schiffirn Goin’ On’
He provided some of the indelible memories of my 70s childhood Saturday nights – Dr Who, Brucie’s Generation Game, The Two Ronnies, Match Of The Day, Parkinson…and in the centre of it all, THIS:

Bullitt is brilliant – best thing that McQueen did and he pretty much invented the bad boy cop (maybe with Clint). Along with the location, clever plot, tight dialogue and the Schifrin score it all fits together perfectly.
