I thought AWers might enjoy this half-hour broadcast by Kris K from back in the day, found on an inherited reel and just shared online. It was one of a series of half-hour single-artist shows produced by Frances Line (with future ‘Folk on 2’ man/ FL husband Jim Lloyd back-announcing this one) that year, usually going out on Saturday afternoons or Sunday evenings. Kris is a bit hung-over but it’s very relaxed session of pretty much his greatest hits… then and now.

Had a quick listen on headphones even though I’m not into this music cos I wanted to hear what he had to say. Playing in headphones and it’s hard panned on one channel so switched to Mono and then you can hear interference and some morse code being tapped out on a nearby frequency – . What struck me is woh! What a deep speaking voice – he sounds like Redd Pepper.

You hear it to good effect at the beginning of his classic song “The Pilgrim”.

My digitising set-up from reel to laptop via an analogue-digital converter somehow puts everything on one channel. Nothing I can do about that. No information is lost – it just goes on one channel. Easiest thing in the world for a studio engineer to copy it on to a second channel, but I can’t do it. As for the radio interference, it is what it is – a bit of history that probably doesn’t survive in any other form 🙂
Twang says
I could probably sort that out for you Colin.

I have EVERY confidence you could – and I know lots of people locally who can (but they’re pro’s and I can’t bother them for a favour every time I digitise old radio tracks…)
