I’ll answer: Yes. The reality is that I listen to practically zero rap/hip-hop/thistypeofthing but I find him utterly compelling. When he gets to that “I’m in heaven” section, that’s a moment.
I listened to very little until I decided to listen to To Pimp a Butterfly to see what the fuss was all about. Then I listened to little other than rap for about 18 months, catching up on what I’d missed over the past 30 odd years. Turns out it was quite a lot
I’m no big fan of rap – can’t relate or understand much of what is being said. However this latest one from Kendrick is superb (even I can hear the words). Can’t wait to tell my daughter who will be appalled that her wrinkly old Dad is getting down with the kids.

The density of the imagery is headspinning stuff, isn’t it. Lots to unpack, as the kids say.
Have you seen this breakdown of the numerology involved in the song “Nosetalgia”? He’s a clever bastard alright.

Absolutely agree. He is such an amazing artist, wears his heart on his sleeve & is intimately connected to his community.
New album this Friday!!

Does he still have the Swingle Singers on perma-bawl in the background?

Pardon?

TPAB is a genuine work of genius. I didn’t find DAMN as compelling but if the new album is as good as the single, it will be a cracker

And in case you missed all the references, YouTube pseuds are already dissecting it
