To know absolutely nothing about Kayne West is a truly enviable position to be in, and one I am determined to maintain. I wish I could say I knew the same amount about Boris Johnson.
In the spirit ofwhat Chiz knows about Fellini, then, I can tell you:
1 Kanye West is a black rap artist
2 He’s married to Kim Kardashian
3 He appeared at Glastonbury
4 He hit his head on a road sign
I think that’s enough Kanye Knowledge for one lifetime.
I thought that was great. I think he’s great and I agreed with a chunk of what he said. In a world of dull singing young men, all called James, Kanye is *interesting* and has backed it up with some great music.
And he’s funny…
Part of me thinks he should be sent to his bedroom and not come down until he’s really thought about what he’s done. Another part of me thinks he’s a proper actual loony. But ultimately, he’s entertainingly unpredictable, and as you say, this is unusual in the current pop landscape.

Don’t you think he’s a little like Russell Brand? Both (whether you like them or not) charismatic, impassioned, slightly unhinged, and occasionally inspired? And both, ultimately, leaving a sense of yeea-ah, and … ?
Kanye is dramatically more talented than Russell Brand.
He’s unquestionably the greatest hip hop producer of his era, which probably makes him as responsible as almost anyone on the planet for how music sounds right now.
Unfortunately, he can’t rap, his lyrics are atrocious and he’s not much cop live.
I’m not suggesting a talent competition between them, Bing.

Got to agree with Poppy here, he’s great isn’t he? Cut through the egomania and you can see the guy cares about stuff. I’m not entirely sure what that “stuff” actually is, mind, but I was impressed.

I think a world that needs saving by a bellend is a world probably not worth saving and the quality of life would be diminished such that it would be less cruel to let it end.

My dad thought all pop music was just ridiculous nonsense spouted by idiots. For years I thought he was wrong.
