Have been waiting for this one for a long time.
The Asylum years is coming on 6th October and I cant wait. Loads of extras and rarities to feast on from to my mind my favourite 3 Joni albums For the Roses, Court and Spark and Hissing of Summer Lawns.
Okay I know most of you will place Hejira above these but we cant all be the same.
Bring it on.

4 CDs for £87, I’m afraid it’ll have to be at least a 50%* price reduction before I even think of buying or maybe I’ll copy yours Steve.
My favourite era also.
*Highly likely considering I picked up Archives II for around £40.
SteveT says
It’s actually 5 cds but it seems Amazon Canada are around £55 which I think is decent and will definitely go for.
Baron Harkonnen says
Amazon Canada? You’ll get it in 2027.
You’re in for a shock if you try to buy from Am/Can, first the price and they don’t ship to the UK. But it’s like I said they take eons to deliver.
SteveT says
I have my means. I have worked extensively with Canada for 30 years – I have a friend in Toronto who will order for me for delivery to his house and then he will post – no duties.
Bargepole says
Particularly looking for the Hissing of Summer Lawns part of this set, one of her best albums without a doubt.
Vulpes Vulpes says
I got the email this morning too. Put the set in my Amazon ‘List’ straight away. I’ve got the previous ‘Archive’ box, and while interesting the first time through, it’s the full fat albums that I play when I want some Joni, rather than the trimmings. Like the Baron, I’ll be looking to see the price tumble at some point.
SteveT says
I doubt whether it be that price by release date- we have got two months to see.
duco01 says
I thought about getting the Joni Archives Vol. 1 and Archives Vol. 2 box sets … but in the end I didn’t buy either.
This one, however, is a must.
Jaygee says
If you read the comments on SDE about the frankly bloated prices
for Who’s Next, the JJ Cale set and now this, it’s clear that fans are starting
to get the hump about being taken for mugs.
SteveT says
@jaygee I don’t think you can compare the Joni box with JJ Cale.
JJ Cale is 9 albums but not really. 8 albums and a final lp of 6 songs which is below 20 minutes long. £290 which is absurd as there are no extras save for that 6 song set.
Joni is 5 albums – all new unreleased and live stuff for roughly £80. £16 per unit for Joni and over £30 per unit for JJC stuff that is basically rehashed.
I would buy the JJC if it was on cd and circa £75 which they would still make a profit on.
Their loss not mine.
As it is two weeks ago I bought JJ Cale collected – 3 disc vinyl for £42 which after my staff discount is circa £34. I know which is better value for money.
Tiggerlion says
Judging by the previous two volumes, there is also likely to be a very worthwhile book.
Baron Harkonnen says
Less than 20% off a set that cost £29 on release, he’s robbing his staff as well as customers.
SteveT says
It averages £40 to £50 on Discogs and was £40 on Amazon until they discounted it. Don’t know where you got your £29 from, it actually didn’t cost me anything as was in lieu of wages along with the other albums I got that day.
Incidentally the money is made on used vinyl not on the new stuff. The labels are doing the ripping off not the shops – if it continues there won’t be any shops.
Baron Harkonnen says
I got the £29 from the price I paid for it at the Dodgers upon it’s release.
Jaygee says
The JJ Cale set ST mentions is only £33.65 on Amazon. If I didn’t already have
most of his Shelter albums, I’d buy it
Jaygee says
Damn, I just did
