Jimmy LaFave sadly passed away early last year leaving behind a legacy of great recordings. He had a fabulous voice and was perhaps the best ever interpreter of Dylan songs. Along with Baron Harkonnen I was privileged to see him play live in Austin about a year before he died. It was a magical evening that will live long in the memory. His last recordings will be released as a double album Peace Town tomorrow. It would be great if this album sold a few copies in his memory as it would certainly help keep alive the memory of a great artist:

Thanks for the heads up. Will be ordering this in about 5 Mon from now.
Good to know. It was posted for your benefit. Baron, you and I are the 3 Jimmy LaFave fans I am aware of. Given the guy’s talent there should be more on here so happy to spread the word.
That hurried response above (by phone) should have read “5 mins from now”, as I posted it as I got into the car as I fled work! It’s been duly ordered, needless to say.
Had the absolute privilege of seeing Jimmy on two consecutive visits to the UK a year apart, and both gigs – in tiny, intimate venues to small appreciative audiences – were fantastic celebrations of songwriting, singing, musicianship and all round human goodness. His passing is such a loss.
Make that four.
🙂
I posted earlier today but obviously my arthritic thumbs pressed the wrong button – Jimmy is (was) The Man!
And my original post said something like “it fills my heart with unrestrained joy that thanks to the wonder of that there internet I can watch something like this”. Breathtaking, that’s what that is.
Marvellous isn’t it? Watch his cover of Have You Ever Seen The Rain too! Such a joy.
