A great drummer who played with Derek & the Dominos and also had involvement with many other artistes (The Beach Boys, The Byrds, Traffic). Sadly, he died in prison where he had been since 1983 after murdering his mother. A man with many life problems.
oops!.. Of course, he only died once.

Grim story about him and Rita Coolidge in the latest MOJO. Sadly, the diagnosis or mental illness was a lot more basic back then, or his mother might have lived a lot longer. But a hell of a musician.
Very sad. He was sentenced to 16 years but continued to serve more because his mental condition never recovered sufficiently.
Here he is in a lead role, more than matching Nilsson’s vocal pyrotechnics. How he keeps a complex rhythm pattern in perfect time for a full three minutes, I’ll never know.David
