Jerry Goodman – violin sensation with the Flock and then the Mahavishnu Orchestra, living in the US, has medical troubles. His associate Sonja Kristina started this Funrazr, which I only became aware of yesterday.
Here’s some of the text. Link below. If you enjoy the mighty MO, or other of Jezza’s works, consider pushing a note or two his way. It can’t be easy losing (temporarily) your ability to play your instrument / earn money. 🙁

I am Curved Air’s Sonja Kristina , a close friend of Jerry Goodman – the brilliant pioneering electric violinist .
We met in the early ‘70s just before John McLaughlin’s Mahavishnu Orchestra was formed.
Over the last year Jerry has been in severe pain due to trapped nerves in both hands and elbows. As a result he has been unable to play his violin.
It is so hard for him to not be able to practice and perform.
After much investigation and advice he has embarked on a series of surgeries to free the nerves. With your help he is also exploring other therapies to ease the pain and restore flexibility.
He has had surgery on one arm . However that surgery needs to be redone. His pain has increased – the nerve has not settled.
He will be operated on again in April. The other arm will be treated six months later when the first arm has settled.
Jerry also discovered that his beloved little companion dog Mikki urgently needed a tumour removed . This has been done this month and she is doing well. The results of the biopsy have not yet returned.
We need to raise money for Jerry to cover his treatment, medical bills and care, and to survive financially during his recovery.

Saw him in 2004 in a rare visit to these shores, playing with Gary Husband’s Force Majeure at Ronnie Scott’s. That band never recorded an album but there’s a live DVD (from Queen Elizabeth Hall, in London) and an unofficial recording of them playing at The Wardrobe in Leeds, taken from a BBC FM broadcast.
Full lineup was Gary Husband – drums & piano, Randy Brecker – trumpet, Jerry Goodman – violin, Jim Beard – keyboards, Elliot Mason – trombone & bass trumpet, Matthew Garrison – bass, Arto Tuncboyacian – percussion. It was a pretty good night at Ronnie’s, despite the club’s abusive staff.
I wish Jerry all the best.
