This is a lovely piece of television. Jenson Button follows in the footsteps of his father and tries out Rallycross with David Coulthard. Funny and touching and worth watching it just to here the pitch of Jenson’s voice after his first drive.

My tripeing is nearly as bad as my spelling.
Interestingly (or probably not..) the guy who owns and races the yellow beetle (the guy strapping Jenson in and telling him about the car) is a fly fishing instructor for his day job, and is the bloke responsible for my casting technique! I’d seen the picture of the car on his wall but never realised it was such a beast!

Button’s enthusiasm is genuine and contagious. He’d make a great Top Gear presenter. Actually if he and Coultard did it I’d watch it.
I believe he was being considered for a role until he secured an extra year in F1. Seems a likeable bloke though, and I’ve always liked DC.
What an epic eight minutes; they’re both aces.
