I woke up this morning wondering what John Lennon thought about ELO and Jeff Lynne?
The others worked with him, especially George. The late 70s LPs sold by the gazillion and were very Beatley indeed.
Perhaps John liked him – and this is why the others were happy enough to work with the Mr Blue Sky Hitmaker.
Anyone know? Come on, it’s not like there’s anything else happening at the moment.

I believe he liked ELO. He said they were “sons of The Beatles”

Yes, Lennon liked Lynne, and here he is talking about ‘Showdown’, including the ‘son of Beatles’ remark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOBm8hcvWDw

Nah, it was ‘sons of bitches’ 😏

I seem to recall John saying he thought ELO (and specifically Lynne) were rip-off merchants and being very pissed off about it….though this may have been during his ‘Lost Weekend’ period

Thanks all.
This was inspired by the story of Bon Scott seeing (and being impressed by) Brian Johnson – so when the band hired Brian, they knew Bon would have approved.
