And here’s Jeffery WITH the Mahavishnu from a jam at the end of Jeff’s set during a joint US tour in 1975 (from 50:40 onwards), the track being Stanley Clarke’s ‘Power’:
I saw this line-up at Sheffield City Hall in, I think 2009. And yes, Becks playing on that track is superb. As indeed is his playing on I would imagine all of the tracks.
Therein lies the problem. I cannot remember a single ‘song’ he played.
This is the real shame about Jeff Beck. He had never really managed to create a vehicle for vocals and therefore a memorable ‘song’ (apart of course from ‘Hi-Ho). Particularly with this line-up with Michael Walden on drums (pretty good warbler too)
Whatever became of the rumoured back to basics tie-up his old mucker, Sir Rod? Now, that might have been good.
I saw him around then, at the Albert Hall. The sound was atrocious but he was great, and Dave Gilmour came on at the end to do a couple of numbers including Hi Ho Silver Lining which they played the harmony lead guitars solo together. Fab.
That is phenomenal. Is it from a recent tour? That is what he does best and when on top of his game there is no one to touch him.
Blocked down here WTF ?
Assume from the tour where they played quite a bit of Mahavishnu. Stupidly, I missed it.
I hear what you say, Fitter, I hear what you say… Here’s Jeff a couple of years earlier with Mahavishnu’s ‘Eternity’s Breath’:
