I am back from a busy trip digging down south which was a mix of luck and general right place/right time really, I visited 2 record shops that were just not interested in selling singles so were knocking them out for 50p each, including the ones below as well as the Slade flexi-disc I posted earlier, so how could I resist?! One guy told me a record shop had closed down and dumped their singles stock and he was happy for me to take away armfuls, though there were a lot without sleeves. As well as coming home with over 150 singles I had left a commission bid on 2 boxes of Techno/Acid mostly 12″s at an auction house before I left, which I luckily won for less than I had bid for, so collected them during my 9 hour drive north. There were some incredible Aphex/Orbital/Global Communications stuff that I have only just dipped into so far, but these are some of the 7″s that initially caught my eye.

1,000 copies of this were given away at the NME Xmas party in 1977 and later 500 copies for a competition through the mag, I had one at the time but have long since lost it. The two live tracks on the flip are by Ian Dury & The Kilburns, the final phase of Dury’s pub-rock band Kilburn & The Highroads.

A top copy of the Northern Soul classic from 1967 re-issued in 1978.

A case where the DJ promo copy is worth only a fraction of the stock copy, which goes for £1,000+ This US mono/stereo promo is still a nice find though.

An Italian jukebox release from 1968 with the unusual pairing of Hendrix with Bee Gees. There are 2 versions of this, the one with the correct Hendrix track according to it’s label and a mis-press that plays If 6 Was 9 and this does indeed play that wrong track!

As well as a large pile of similar odd foreign pressings I have yet to go through but will post soon, there were a handful of 60’s Public Information 7″s that I was pleased to find.
