Here’s one for the small Fonts Clique, as well as the rather larger Blade Runner clique. Some dude with way too much time on his hands has identified fonts used in the movie, as well as a whole load of other stuff – logos, locations, Letraset etc. Insanely detailed, with screen grabs to match, but weirdly fascinating. He’s done the same job on Alien too.

Brilliant.
That’s made me late for work.
Must watch the movie again soon.
Thanks for the link.
Good job I’m “working from home” today, I will be a-clickin’ and a -linkin’ on and off all day. Cheers.
Bookmarked. . .
That article is genius!
Outstanding work. Good spot.
I am the only person in the world who has never seen Blade Runner.
You should remedy that, then this article might mean something…
I have seen films that duco wouldn’t believe …. time … to switch on the dvd player … … and press play …
@duco01 *whispers* neither have I.
( I haven’t heard 2001 A Space Thingy… shh!)
(er… I haven’t seen it either…..)
Rob, if ever there was a film that needed you in the audience, it’s 2001. It’s not at all the same experience on your TV screen, though, so if there’s ever another cinema release you should not miss the opportunity.
I’ve seen it enough for all of you.
Have you got the Really Long Fan Edit With Every Scene In It? There are more than one fan edits, but this one is really long and has every scene in it.
Yes.
It has the scene with the robot party conga line falling out of the train?
Have you missed the whole point of the film? Mankind has the conceit to play God and creates another living creature for it to manipulate as it pleases, then is surprised when the creature rebels and craves more from life.
They aren’t robots, they are living sentient beings.
I haven’t seen Dirty Dancing but yesterday was The Light’s birthday so we spent the evening at a tribute show, bathed in the squeals of several hundred middle aged women and buoyed up on a fug of hairspray and prosecco fumes. To be honest I had no idea what was going on half the time, but the tunes were good, even if much of the singing looked suspiciously mimed, and at any one point there was usually at least one pretty girl with spectacular dancer’s legs in view so it wasn’t a complete waste of an evening. The Light had a good time, but complained that it was ‘nothing like the film’ in case you were thinking of going.
Buy her a watermelon. Huge brownie points.
Yes, there was a scene where ‘Baby’ was struggling to carry two watermelons. Apparently it was very funny.
Go see the film, it’s fab.
That’s a great link. Thanks!
Some of the ‘concept’ sketches are here;

Somewhere on the web, there are images of lots of the printed materials that appear in the background of the film.
There’s also a thriving fan community who make perfect replicas of the hardware, even the sets, in the movie. The guns are things of great beauty.
I never realised that the death soliloquy was improvised. Top marks!
I’m led to believe that by “improvised” it means it wasn’t so much thought up on the spot as the cameras were rolling, but thought up the night before, and added to the shooting.
I see. Rutger didn’t just come up with it when he was deep in character. The team came up with it at the last minute when they didn’t know how they were going to handle the ending.
