I like William Tyler but I’ve not listened to this yet maybe one for tomorrow morning. Is it as good as Modern Country?
I think duco01 will think so.

I am currently in the state of listening. It’s one for the fans of tape looping.
I bought 4 albums that appeared in his list and they were all very good.
This wasn’t one of them.
So have you heard it? I can’t tell from that post.
This has only just been released, thus cannot be in anybody’s 2024 list.
Fine, but SteveT appears to have popped in to say he hasn’t heard it, and I wondered why.
Having completed listening to Time Indefinite I can now answer the question I asked Tigg up thread. “Is it as good as Modern Country?” No it isn’t.
Okaaay.
On reflection, It’s more of a Quietus or Wire album than a duco01.
Based on the track above, I can only agree. Good grief! It’s like the soundtrack to the great lost Alien movie. I can see the album might be a “six listens minimum” job – but I think I’d rather use that time to listen to Dvořák…
How does it stack up compared to Goes West (the only one of his I own)?
I prefer Goes West to this too. I I said up thread this is for lovers of tape loops there is not a lot of his trademark guitar playing in evidence certainly compared to Modern Country or Goes West. Frankly I found this a bit of a snooze and believe me I have a pretty high tolerance for stuff like Time Indefinite.

A big thumbs-up for Impossible Truth, Modern Country, Goes West, Lost Futures, New Vanitas and Secret Stratosphere.
I’ve ordered “Time Indefinite”.
Will it be the duco01 Favourite New Album of 2025?
We’ll have to wait and see….

No. I was unmoved, moved I was not. Disappointment is listening to Klaus Mäkelä trying to interpret Sibelius.

Erm…no, thanks! In business terms, I think Mäkelä has been promoted beyond his abilities. He’s the “BGT” conductor…
…and I don’t like his take on Stravinsky either!

@tiggerlion this was just the right music for me at the right time. Never heard of him. I have been listening to as much of his work as I can, including this new one. It speaks to me.
As a ‘side quest’ I also went through a few albums of Marissa Anderson. Also just what I need.
Excellent! That’s what music is for. After all, it’s a perfect day for a Caribou.
The opening track is as close to unlistenable as anything I’ve ever heard. The next few tracks are pleasant-ish. I didn’t make it to the end.
I’m sure William is pleased that you did at least try.

Is there a vuvuzela and bongo wigout? It not, then count me out.
There is something. Could be either. Could be neither. I can’t tell. But the phrase “wig out” is stretching it a bit.
I reckon I caught a vague, ghostly hint of that somewhere in about track 5, before I fell asleep due to the extreme state of tranquility that this album brings about (seriously).
Did not hold my interest. After a few minutes I decided to stop listening.
As an aside, I’m not sure why, but lately I’m unable to play YouTube videos from threads on this blog unless I click bottom-left and go to the YouTube site.
Have not knowingly changed any settings on my browser or the YouTube site.
Same here – only it’s not new for me, been going on for ages…
…and erratic – sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t…
