…….And by that I mean Music Magpie, you dirty minded rascals.
Yes, it’s that time of the decade when I am ordered to have a clear-out. I’ve dutifully sorted through things I will never listen to or read again, and the magpies have taken about 40% of it. My local chazza shops don’t take CDs anymore, so the question is: what on earth do I do with the straglers?
Farmers will have the CDs to scare off the crows. Crows don’t like Oasis, and who could blame them.
Had a chat with a guy who runs a chariddee shop the other day and he said they just can’t shift CDs. I said, “Hmm, you just can’t shift all the CDs (Eva Cassidy, Simply Red, tacky compilations etc.) you stock. Why not just dump all of them, and stock up with ones you could sell (Dylan, Beatles, Who etc.)?”
I don’t think he quite got it.
If the chazzers won’t take CDs then at least I have an answer to the demand to declutter…’What?! and add to the plastic in landfill..?’.
Recycling centre, Shirley? Or are you too far from Solihull?
eBay? Posting is a pain, but any old rubbish seems to sell on there.
Try Ziffit. They tend to pay more than MM for items they accept. And anyway, MM are a bunch of robbers – last time I used them, they refused to acknowledge receipt of items that were included in the parcel. Won’t go near them again.
I’d seen similar warnings but so far they’ve paid in full for everything I sent. No doubt I’ve jinxed it now,
Libraries?
That is an excellent suggestion.
Are you to embarassed to post the list on here.
Yes.
No Parlez…then!
I’m on my 3rd parcel to MM in the last few weeks. Very picky about DVDs (couldn’t offload box sets of Frasier, MASH, The Office) and turned down some books but have been accepting most CDs, even if for just a few pence.
I tried out a few different competitors and whilst they might pay better they refused more, or were offereing 1p per CD / DVD and would only payout once you had a £10 batch. MM’s app works better than most (CEX’s was dire) and the courier comes to the house to pick them up.
What MM refuse I’ll try at a charity shop (I think some still accept CDs) and what they don’t want goes in the bin along with my PS2 games and video collection.
1p? What?
Just hang on to them the CD revival will happen.
I’m in the process of moving house so had a massive clearout. Crisis took all my unwanted CD’s (and some of them were not in good condition). British Heart Foundation take CD’s and DVD’s
… all in all then a truly FANTASTIC time to buy CDs and entirely the WRONG time to lump on a riotously expensive option such as, oh let me see, ah yes, the vinlys.
Anyone going to tell the hipsters?
Right now they are busy combing Camden Town for Leo Sayer vinlys under £20. They’ve already been priced out of the Culture Club and Spandau Ballet market.
Have a word someone.
Schools often have fund raisers and a mate of mine did a CD stall and raised some decent dosh for the PTA.
