I guess the main selling point of The Flock was the virtuoso electric violin of Jerry Goodman, who went on to join the first version of the Mahavishnu Orchestra
Well done. #6 is the BACK cover of This Was by Jethro Tull (Island 1968)
I saw this line-up (with Mick Abrahams on guitar) at a ballroom in Chesterfield in 1969. There was no stage so the audience were sitting on the floor the same level as the band.
That was when Anderson had his “tramp” look, with the threadbare overcoat and matted hair.
The Mick Abrahams era is my favourite Tull line-up. One of the saddest things I’ve ever seen was when Mick featured in the “Where are they now” identity parade in Never Mind The Buzzcocks (series 19, episode 1).
Is that a pterodactyl? I was going to guess Dio, but as any scientist will tell you, dinosaurs and demons did not occupy the earth at the same time.
Hawkfall’s shaken it loose – it’s Dinosaur Swamp by the Flock.
Correct. I’ll post #2 shortly when I get home
Never heard of ’em. I guess I’d better check them out.

Here’s the answer to #1
Dinosaur Swamps by The Flock (CBS 1970)

And here’s #2

I know this one! It’s that Robert Johnson album isn’t it? King of the Delta blues singers?
Either that, or something by Comus.
Make your mind up…
I’m going to go with Robert Johnson of course.
Don’t reckon it is RJ. Upside down ?
Correct Hawky. #2 is King of the Delta Blues Singers by Robert Johnson (Columbia 1961)

Here’s #3. Hopefully this will be a little more difficult. Who’s this smirking a tab?
http://i.imgur.com/Sjjtppa.jpg
Them Again. Probably Van’s hands – although they all look the same to me with their curly mop tops.
Oh, that’s good!
#3 is Them Again by Them (Decca 1966)

Dammit, I knew no.s 2 and 3.
I got as far as surly 60s pop herberts, but I was leaning towards the Animals.
What’s Peter Asher doing in the band?
I’d have said that was the BBC’s Nick Robinson before he lost his hair.
And that’s George at the far left, isn’t it?
Having said that, there’s also a touch of the Jarvis Cocker about the ginger one.
Must be the horn rim specs. Every band seemed to have a member wearing them in the 60s.
Here’s #4. These are all my own records btw.

Ten Man Mop Or Mr. Reservoir Butler Rides Again Steeleye Span.
This is proving easier than I anticipated. Yes #4 is Ten Man Mop Or Mr. Reservoir Butler Rides Again the third album by Steeleye Span (Pegasus 1971)

Here’s #5. A little harder, hopefully
http://i.imgur.com/XP3gW1L.jpg
That’s Trader Horne, Morning Way. Brilliant record.
Bloody hell! So it is.
#5 Morning Way by Trader Horne (Dawn Records 1970)
And If I may name-drop here, Paul Winter, my one-time best mate from Sheffield designed the sleeve.

#6 – what’s this strange thing?
http://i.imgur.com/PlO0W2p.jpg
Yep. Jethro Tull – “This Was”
Saw them tour this album in the late ’60’s at Manchester Free Trade Hall.
Well done. #6 is the BACK cover of This Was by Jethro Tull (Island 1968)

I saw them at the Red Lion Blues Club in Leytonstone just as this was released…Ian Anderson handed out Rothmans to the ‘crowd’..!
I remember that episode. Really terrible how the smug panellists humiliated people in the line ups. Hated that programme.
Yes, it was sheer humiliation from start to finish. You have to wonder why Mick agreed to do it. Still makes me wince to think of it now.
I saw it too. Awful to see those B list idiots mock people who’d actually, like, done something.
Here’s #7. What could this possibly be?

Van Morrison and The Chieftans – Irish Heartbeat?
Crikey! Yes, #7 is Van Morrison and The Chieftains – Irish Heartbeat (1988 Mercury)
Relax, ladies, they’re spoken for etc

It’s all downhill from here. Here’s #8
http://i.imgur.com/w7LhSLf.jpg
The Boss, Asbury Park.
No, sorry.
The Wild, The Innocent, etc.
The Wild, The Innocent and The E Street Shuffle.
It’s a tie! Mini and Clive got the answer at the same time, but Seamus appears to have got in a minute before them.
#8 is Bruce Springsteen – The Wild, The Innocent and The E Street Shuffle (CBS 1973)
http://i.imgur.com/hGrnQkH.jpg
Damn. Half a point though, shirley?
Go on, then
Franz Klammer?
I get it. All downhill from here. Nicely done.
The Wild The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle
The last two are so easy I don’t why I’m bothering, but let’s see it through.
Here’s #9
http://i.imgur.com/LZgAFbc.jpg
Is it Five Star – Luxury of Life?
Failing that, Exile.
Very good! #9 is Exile On Main Street by the Strolling Bones (RSR 1972)

Finally here’s the last one #10.
Piss easy

Purple Rain.
Or maybe Mrs Mills’ Piano Party?
Go on then. It’s Prince – Purple Rain (W.Bros 1984)
http://i.imgur.com/C1F3Eff.jpg
To be honest, I’m surprised you own a Prince album, Johnny!
I’ve never played it, though. I’ve heard bits on the radio, mind.
I only knew 3 – a virtual civilian score – the shame.
That’s 2 more than me. And 1 more than me if you count albums I’ve actually listened to all the way through!
