The first slab of original music from Britain’s leading all-female Slade tribute act, Slady. I say ‘original’ but the ladeez have cleverly tweaked the DNA of a few old familiar Slade numbers here. Good luck to them.

Unfortunately they had to cancel a gig nearby this year but I hope to see them sometime.

That’s great Colin. Down here we have an all-girl Link Wray tribute band – The Wraylettes.
Not fantastic but good fun.
retropath2 says
Call me humbug, but what a vile din. (Slady, not the Wraylettes, who succeed by tapping niche over cliche.)
Junior Wells says
At least neither is playing Stuck Inside of Mobile 😉
Colin H says
Try this, Retromeister – they do Slade’s ‘deep cuts’ brilliantly, in my view.
retropath2 says
The only deep cut I associate with Slade is the one in the canal, where their records should be “filed”. Back in the day, when I said I quite liked their version of Darlin, Be Home Soon, I was lying, only making that comment to book in the fact I preferred the Joe Cocker version of this John Sebastian song.
I’d sooner hear Dylan sing Gudbuy to Jane than Noddy sing Mobile. And that only if Scarlett Rivera played the fiddle motifs.

Humbug! 🙂

You called? And don’t get me started on Christmas albums. Once only the domain of fading country singers, disillusioned soul singers and slebs, now every folkie of worth (and others) are knocking ‘em out.
fitterstoke says
Yebbut, tell us what you really think about Christmas albums, retro…
Munster says
Colin, please reassure me you aren’t planning a ‘Slady Live at the BBC’ 25-CD boxset on Repertoire
Colin H says
How on earth did you find out about it?!? 😀
But no, fear not. 20CD Carthy at the BBC set in progress (still), 5-disc Horslips BBC set next year also, plus just off the phone to a man about Blodwyn Pig…
Leffe Gin says
Sounds more like AC/DC to me, but that’s fine. Good luck to them, I’d definitely go and see them if I had the chance. Fun, you know..?
fitterstoke says
My thoughts exactly!
Alias says
There is also an all female Ramones tribute act called the Ramonas..
Vincent says
Better than more corporate soulful caterwauling or earnest strumming, IMHO. They do a very enjoyable gig, and the lead singer has, er, “a good set of lungs” for all the Holderesque singing.
Black Type says
Continuing on the Slade theme…
It used to go like that…now it goes like this. And it’s rather lovely.

The very awesome Black Sabbitch
retropath2 says
This is much more satisfactory:
fitterstoke says
I’d buy that for a dollar! Never knew it existed…
hubert rawlinson says
Of course to link with the Carthy box set and Slade here’s M Carthy with “Cum on Feel the Noize” especially for @retropath2.
retropath2 says
You utter, utter cad, you!
hubert rawlinson says
A bounder and popinjay too.
Colin H says
Nicely done, Hubes… 🙂
