Here we go. I have tried to avoid repetiton, but it is becoming increasing difficult…anyway, have at it!
For the sake of having it all in one place, here are the rules again, courtesy of MM
THOSE RULES IN FULL…
1 Sign up by the closing date by just letting us know in the comments to this post. Sign up for CDswap New closes next Friday (20th May), then the Kid will get grouping.
2 We will then pair everyone up with two or three other people – you compile a CD (more later) and post it to two others. So post two out, get two back. You swap your IRL addresses via DMs so no-one except your pairs need know you live at 221 Faker Street.
3.Your CD: one CD only. 12 tracks only. Theme: New. Please rip your files without track or artist names so your partners can listen without prejudice. Artwork is up to you. MP3 tag is a free PC programme that allows you to strip all the artwork and info from your MP3 file.
5 CDs to get to your partners in the mail by the end of June (we will give you a gentle reminder on the blog).
6 You can then let the world know what you thought of the CDs you received in a megapost that we will put up for reviews.
7. CHANGE OF RULES: Don’t post us your track listings and liner notes. It worked perfectly well last time with everyone posting their own listings once all the reviews were in for that group, so we’ll stick with that.
And by way of a gentle pointer if it’s your first swap, we love the obscure, the discovery, the deep cut and the lost classic on the swap. No need to take up one of your 12 precious tracks with, for example, Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag. Synonyms are fine, more than fine, they’ll having you combing your itunes one more time to find that last perfect track.
Any questions in the comments or DM us. Come on in the water’s lovely!

Cheers all…. The selecting starts tomorrow…

Heads or Tails?

Discs burned – in post on Friday (hopefully!)
@tinydemon / @rigid-digit Apologies! I am still behind the curve on creating my disc.
My brother (a fellow Bowie fan) still lies comfortably in the critical care ward, not far from my home.
I never really got his love of the Smiths, and he was never a Yes, Genesis or Tangerine Dream fan. None of which holds any importance now.
Nay bovver @craig42blue.
There are some things more important than CDs
apparently …
Still at the stage of paring down my selection by adding more songs! Big push this weekend! Craig – No worries. Hope your brother continues to progress.
@tinydemon @rigid-digit
CDs done in haste – hopefully a track or two that you like or haven’t heard before. Posting today. I now have the cd from the SLF fanclub!!
…and now I also have received a CD from TinyDemon.
Time to listen to both.
@tinydemon @rigid-digit
@tinydemon @craig42blue
I’ve got the CDs from each.
Just carrying out the regulation 6 listens before penning the critique

@fatima-Xberg
@Lemonhope
I havent seen messages with addresses – playlist is complete.
Could be have accidentally deleted as have a new Kindle.
If you send me another message I will make sure they are on their way to you.
Check your messages, Steve.
Stack of discs finally burned – I only have to decide which mix(ture) I’ll send off.
Everything will be on its way by Wednesday.
The disc from @Lemonhope has arrived – after a week in a customs office in Frankfurt (maybe they thought someone was secretly sending British fish…).
You may find it has something in common with old fish…
Oh no! Marilliom alert!!
They’ll be wishing for Fish to lighten the mood! Yarrr!
“Marilliom” !- not an intentional mistake, sounds like one of those things your mum would say: “Our eldest likes those hairy bands like Zed Lepellin, AB/CD, Marilliom, Hertz Van Halen…”
“Blurry” said my mum when asked what the band she’d met at Walthamstow dog track were called.
She meant Damon and the boys, not a comment on her recollection of the event.
Review posted (with a little help from Van).
Music has been received from my team mates. Danke.
@SteveT , yours will be in the post today.
Disc received from @SteveT.
Maybe ask Van for a listen…
Hi @Fatima-xberg and @lemonhope received from both – look forward to hearing and reviewing.

Messaged you both my address… let’s get burnin’.
@eyesteel / @kid-dynamite / @StellarX / @wilson-wilson
Excellent. I’m still at the stage where my list is getting longer instead of shorter…
Spendid! Did a vinyl-ripping sesh yesterday and I think I’ve whittled the contenders down to the optimal selection… (although optimal to whom I couldn’t say).
Extremely agreeable. Gentlepeeps, I pray I do not scar you for life. 😉

Artwork selected. A quick check through my most recent musical acquisitions, for possible substitutions, and I’m good to go.
CDs posted off today (2nd class) to my swap compadres.
It almost didn’t happen, as when I started burning them yesterday I had only 4 blank CDs left, out of the batch of 100 I bought about 10 years ago.
2 of those 4 turned out to be duds.
My order for 100 blank CDs, seeing that I’d used up the last I had in this swap, arrived today from Amazon.
Unfortunately they were in a ridiculously oversized box with not enough packing material, so the shrink-wrapping on the stack of Maxell CD-Rs had burst and they’d been floating about loose in the box on the way to casa mia. Several were badly scratched so they’ve all been returned for replacement.
Apparently, due to Brexit and COVID, there’s currently a UK shortage of cardboard boxes and packaging materials, so maybe that’s why the packaging of my order was such a dog’s breakfast.
Received a new package of blanks, in good condition, the other day.
So now I have a copy of it too. To play in the car and see where I went wrong in my selections.
Been there mate.
Guy compiling mix compilation CD/tape: “This is so cool! This’ll knock ’em out!”
Guy listening to same CD/tape after it is completed: “This is shit. Everyone will think I’m a knobhead”
It’s not THAT bad. Not really.
I mean it’s pretty bad, yes, but it’s not completely awful. Not really.
I actually had less trouble this time, coming up with a shortlist and then narrowing it down. The sequencing took longer than the selection and I’m still not sure it’s right. Too late now.
I restricted myself to stuff recorded/played in the past few years, so there’s nothing older than 2018 on it.
What… so no Mrs Mills? No way!
Very disappointing, I know. She doesn’t seem to be making records any more.
She is with Doris Stokes and Marjorie Proops now. Bless.
Gerry Rafferty needs to pull his finger out too, the lazy hound!
I’ve “skillfully” avoided this by burning my discs four weeks before sending, so have pretty much forgotten what I put on there by this point in the proceedings 🙂
Received “Neu!!” from @moseleymoles.
The game’s afoot!
Received New Sounds/What’s New from @bogart
I have a foolproof plan AND an airtight alibi.
I’m going in there..
@deviant808 / @retropath2 / @vulpes-vulpes
Yay!
My longlist needs a fair bit of trimming, but I think I’ve got six nailed on as definite choices so that’s not too bad.
Well in an unexpected / unprecedented burst of creativity / productivity, I’ve today burned three CDs (third one for the traditional behind-the-scenes swap with the long suffering @StellarX) and – in the absence of access to a printer – fashioned some rudimentary cover art from whatever junk mail fell through the letterbox over the weekend.
Still waiting on one address though before I haul myself off to the post office.
Moi aussi, with a novel interpretation of what a “new” playlist might comprise. (To be fair, 1969 is relatively new in AW-world)
Half the fun is stretching the rules, I’ve got something on mine from 1968 🙂
You KNOW that I love it really…! 😉 My ‘extra’ to you shall be in the mail this week.
Duck and cover.
Well, on the off-chance that this one completely misses the mark, you can console yourself with the bonus disc that’ll be in there. While searching for stuff I realised I had a duplicate copy of something that I thought you might appreciate, don’t get too excited though, it’s just a freebie covermount from a long defunct magazine!
Haven’t sent these out yet (though I’m still missing an address anyway *cough*) as I’m self-isolating at the moment after a ping from the Track ‘n’ Trace people. So won’t be able to get to the post office until next week.
Delayed by self-isolation (all OK now) and general lethargy, but they’re in the post as of this lunchtime, including the traditional extra copy for @StellarX as Wales are doing far too well in the football and he needs bringing back down to Earth 🙂
Brace yourselves.
Splendid to her you remain well. It’ll all go siâp gellygen against the Azzurri so I can console myself listening to your racket. 😉
think that’s it, please shout if there’s something wrong, but also be aware that I’m going camping for the next few days (looks out of window, grimaces) so it may take me a while to acknowledge. In the meantime, better start dusting off those New Kids On The Block B-sides…
Pack yer wellies.
Kid’s tent:
you think you’re joking, but my chum’s tent is ridiculously big for the three of us who will be staying in it…think it is visible from space
Can anyone tell me how to remove all the track info/artwork on a Mac? I Googled that MP3 tag thing and it all looks a bit tech-y…
I import the track into Garageband.
Then export it back into Music.
I can explain the steps if you think it’s the way you want to go.
If you compile the CD in iTunes, you just delete all the track infos before burning. (You can duplicate the compilation if you don’t want to mess with your library contents)
Yes. Rather than strip all the info out and then have to put it all back again after you’ve burnt your CDs, save the tracks as another album and strip the info from those copies, burn your CDs from them.
Super, muito obrigado tous le monde!
