Sounds fine to me I must say. Loads of detail in the recording – the first track, being an announcement from stage, is full of the ambient sound detail that signals a true live capture.
Nice clean, flat pressing on very sturdy vinyl. No discernible groove noise at all.
It was absolutely crackling with huge static on being initially unsleeved, and even lifted the felt mat right up off the turntable as I got ready to play side 1. I dissipated that with a carbon-fibre brush and then it played beautifully.
I’m tempted to rip it to wav using the NevaDuo I have attached to a line-out on the amp in order to see what the ‘remastering’ looks like in Audacity, but really, I doubt I’ll bother.
Just getting this again on pristine vinyl was, for me, the mission here. I wanted to replace a battered original copy that went the way of lent-out-and-never-returned LPs from my past.
Luckily, our next door neighbours are away for the week on hols.
I gave it a spin this afternoon and it sounds pretty great. Yes, it is cut quite hot, and I suspect there’s a generous amount of compression on the bass, but roots reggae bass is to be felt rather than heard. The music is wonderful.
If you were hovering over the ‘buy’ button, do it – you won’t be disappointed (unless you frequent the Hoffman boards).
My copy is numbered in the high 200s, and they only pressed 500, so don’t hang about.
It’s definitely a low-risk way of getting a clean copy. I don’t know what the going price is for an original, but I bet it is much higher than the Ā£35 this one cost.
I think I paid £25 for my copy, many years ago, and that was cheap at the time.
Fingers crossed it’s been worth the angst!
Right, I’ve ordered a(nother) copy. Fingers crossed.
Well? You must have played it by now.

Brilliant! I’ve ordered the CD, which is yet to arrive.
I downloaded the 24/96 Flac files when I placed my order. They look very ‘hot’.
That’s not the same thing as saying the vinyl is mastered from them, though.
Keep on roots rocking, Vulpmeister!
I see Misty are playing in Bristol in September, VV. Might treat myself!
EDIT: no they’re not..
My LP has apparently shipped. Stand by for full nerd assessment.
Please don’t Hoffman the thing to death!
How very dare you. Steve is nothing like the Hoffman mob! š
I picked up a near mint Target RL. Iām happy with it. Gorts, close this thread!
Arf!

‘ave yer got it yet?
Arrived this afternoon. I hope to play it tomorrow. Life got in the way today.

Obviously they are not numbering and mailing out the LPs one by one as they go!
Glad you felt the same way as me regarding the pressing and mastering. It’s a nice hefty lump of flat vinyl.
