Suggest refrain from goiing into too much detail until after 12 noon (UK time) so as not to spoil the fun for everyone else.
Saw one good one in The Times.
Only likely candidate in the Gruan is about China’s relentless persecution of Hong Kong’s pro-democracy movement. Not nearly as funny as their late 1970s championing of San Serif

there’s a story on the BBC News site that I think might be one, but really in these times who can tell?

I know what you mean.
Even worse, as the world has got worse, people have become a lot less trusting.
All very sad really when you consider the great japes of the past – Panorama’s spaghetti tree harvest from the 1950s and the Gruan’s aforementioned San Serif supplement of 77 or 78 being the gold standard.

There was a story this morning about NZ hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2023, listing all the confirmed venues etc.
With the Olympics and the Euros now out of sync from their usual sequencing I had a brief period of confusion about it – but it is genuinely happening. The article I read only mentioned it was the women’s World Cup tournament in about paragraph 8 – so it makes sense now.

A record dealer friend has posted this on his faceblerk page, I’m in two minds it could be true.
“Just got a fantastic collection of rare MFP, Ken Dodd, Studio 2, Vince Hill, Engelbert Humperdinck and such. All naturally scratched because you hardly ever see such items. These come up so rarely for sale that I’m selling them at 5p a hundredweight.”

Of course we read the same paper.
Then there’s page 13 ‘Cornwall makes language test compulsory for tourists’.
‘Testing booths are expected to be set up on major traffic routes including the Tamar Bridge and the A30.’ apparently.

Although you probably need to live near the Aldridge-Brownhills part of the West Midlands to get full value from it, this spoof article from excellent local blogger Brownhills Bob is one of the best I’ve seen in years: https://brownhillsbob.com/2021/04/01/ravens-court-to-be-demolished-in-ambitious-redevelopment-plan/

Yesterday my wife went into work earlier as they were short staffed. As the manager of a 12 man team she was 3 staff down and was worried about coping with the workload. In the space of 15 minutes she had 3 phone calls from staff who were supposed to be in all saying for various reasons that they were not going to be in. She started reaching meltdown when one by one they all walked through the door. It was a carefully coordinated prank.

Unbelievable.
The people queueing up to buy this must presumably be BS (apt acronym in this context) fans with a modicum of knowledge about the band and its output.
