I heard an interview with Stella Parton earlier this morning in which she claimed to have released 33 albums. For the life of me I could not recall hearing a single song by her but am much more familiar with the music of big sister Dolly. It must be difficult for an artist to break away from the bonds of a more successful family member without being accused of cashing in.
John Lennon started a whole family business himself with father, both wives and sons releasing records. Does anyone listen to Jakob Dylan or Adam Cohen anymore? The Wainwrights and Waterston/Carthy clan seem to be surviving and thriving. Matt Bellamy has become a bigger act than father George.
Poor Chris Jagger will always be seen as a shadow of brother Mick. Check out his music here (rather good) for yourself: www.chrisjaggeronline.com/
Have I missed any? A Gallagher sister perhaps? Bjork’s brother?
It’s particularly widespread in folky circles. The Waterson family of course, and the wonderful Eliza. The Thompsons with both both Teddy as a solo act (successful, but not my cup of tea) and Kamila in The Rails.
And grandson Zak Hobbs, who pops up in the Rails band on occasion, with his auntie Kami, as well as with gramps in this clip
And playing RT’s old Ferrington. I was at that gig (probably pretty close to whoever took the vid too, standing in a box overlooking the stage close to the guest seats where Zak, Kami and so on spent most of the gig) and remember him introducing Zak with an accusatory, ‘Where did you get that guitar!’
More folky thoughts. rT was of course a founder member of Fairport, as was Ashley Hutchins (father of Blair Dunlop). Ashley was replaced by Dave Pegg, father of Matt. I once saw a very good Cropredy closing marathon set where everyone involved (with the exception of the women from Larkin Poe) was either a Fairporter, ex Fairporter or progeny of a Fairporter.
The most recent version of the Albion Band was a new generation line-up led by Ashley Hutchings’ son Blair Dunlop.
More Fairport links. Jerry Donahue is the son of saxophonist and big band leader Sam Donahue. Jerry’s daughter Christina accompanied Robert Plant singing Sandy Denny’s part in the Battle of Evermore at Cropredy one year.
Evarose – the guitarist is Chris Leslie’s daughter.
Björk’s brother? You’ve forgotten a few. What about her grandma, cousin, auntie, fishmonger etc? Being in a band on Iceland is obligatory on Iceland: it’s like doing military service.
Can’t have been easy being Frank’s daughter, but Nancy seems to have managed rather well.
Can’t imagine her dad duetting with Mozza.
Joe Brown begat Sam, Marty Wilde begat Kim.
And then there’s all those Wainwrights/Roches.
Mother – Frances Ruffelle
Daughter – Eliza Doolittle

There are several prog dynasties, of course.
Dylan Howe (son of Yes guitarist) is/was drummer with the Blockheads and recorded the best Bowie covers album ever.
Simon Collins (son of Phil) is a drummer and singer (his Sound Of Compact album is great).
…and then there’s the Wakeman family who all seem to have been in Yes at some time.
The son of Paul Weller and Dee C. Lee, Natt Weller is, surprisingly, a Thai ladyboy.
Things have changed since he had the moon on his pyjamas.
Eliot Sumner’s music isn’t as bad as her old man’s recent efforts.
Wow, she doesn’t look anything like Bernard!
How about Simon Townshend, younger brother of Pete. Mostly known as a touring member of the who plus stints with various other rock groups live (Pearl Jam ??) but I think there are a few solo albums out there…..
The Who currently employ Zac Starkey as their drummer, son of Richard.
And currently touring together….

Ry’s son Joachim Cooder plays percussion for pater.
As per the OP, we have Adam Cohen to thank for the improvement in the music on his old man’s final albums.
Adam Cohen’s last album We Go Home is a thoroughly listenable record – saw him live in Manchester that year and he was great – a decent act in his own right but inevitably in the shadow of his father

There was a very good Adam Cohen track on a Word CD in 2011. “What Other Guy”. From an earlier album.
Michael McGear (and no, I don’t know why the YouTube clip goes on for 10 minutes when the song is over in 3)…..
The late Joe Zawinul’s son was his live sound man and studio recording engineer.
Jazz (acoustic) bassist Jimmy Garrison’s son Matthew is also a jazz (electric) bassist.
Julio Iglesias’s son Enrique is one of the best selling Latin artists in the world.
Jimmy Barnes’ daughter Mahalia is a very good soul/funk singer , recently did an album covering Betty Davis stuff
Joshua Redman son of Dewey Redman is a v good sax player
Ziggy Marley is pretty good
I think Tom Waits employs his son on Drums? Or is that just Jeff Tweedy?
Justin Townes Earle
Jimmy Webb’s sons formed a band a few years ago that made a couple of passable albums. I remember reading an interview with them at the time of their debut where they were very keen to say that they weren’t going to trade on their dad’s name. In which case, why would you call yourselves The Webb Brothers, and why would you then make an album with him a few years later?
Impressive list, but you seem to have forgotten all the punk siblings:
Eric Rotten
Eric Strummer
Eric Scabies
Eric Sensible
Eric Ant
Eric Sioux
Eric Styrene
Eric The Slash
and
Eric Idol*
(*Ha! You got me – I made that one up. Mind, Terry Jones was born Siamese triplets with Mick and Steve Jones..)
Five of Dave Brubeck’s six kids have been pro musicians, it seems.
once saw Dave B with at least one of offspring, maybe more in the band.
Fela Kuti’s sons are both very good. Of course, not as good as their old man, but still well worth anyone’s time.
Jazz bass legend Charlie Haden has several daughters who sing, best known of whom is the estimable Petra Haden.
And a very fine sound those Haden girls make when they sing together.
Jan Garbarek’s daughter Anja is a very successful pop singer in Norway and probably better known than her dad these days.
Isn’t one of the Haden ladies married to top Hollywood funnyman superstar Jack Black?
Blimey! Is there anyone on the AW who knows more about the love lifes of the stars than you, Duke?
The lucky lady is Tanya Haden aka Mrs Black.
The Finns. Brother Tim, sons Liam and Elroy plus wife Sharon have all played alongside Neil at some stage.
And did I hear a reference to Tim’s son Harper playing with Crowded House during the twentieth anniversary of Farewell to the World at Sydney Opera House? Or is that 25th?
Jazz bass legend Charlie Haden has several daughters who sing, best known of whom is the estimable Petra Haden.
You can say that again😀
Nah, once is enough….
Ravi Shankar > Norah Jones
Young Anoushka’s a dab hand on the sitar as well.
Clarence Clemons’ nephew, Jake, plays in the E St Band, as has (Mighty) Max Weinberg’s son, Jay.
Jay Weinberg is playing drums for Slipknot now.
Nowadays, Joe Jones plays guitar for his dad, the indisputably great Nic Jones:
… which reminds me, Nick Harper, son of Roy, is a mighty fine guitarist.
Also Ravi Coltrane and several Marley offspring. And Dweezil.
Rosanne Cash, Johny’s daughter by his first wife Vivian Liberto Cash, has had a rich and rather successful career. I hadn’r realised that he had been married before June Carter Cash.

Here’s a song from RC’s latest album: The River and the Thread.
Peter Hooks son Jack plays alongside dad in his band The Light
And Happy Birthday for today Peter!
Carlene Carter was June’s daughter from her first marriage to Carl Smith. She has been married four times. Husband No 3 was the Cruel to be Kind Hitmaker, Nick Lowe, who she was together with for 11 years.

Hollie Cook, daughter of Sex Pistols’ drummer Paul, has made two very fine roots reggae albums (and played with the reformed The Slits).
Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (son of J.S. Bach) wrote some nice harpsichord sonatas and a few other bits and pieces.
I was fascinated to learn that Maya Rudolph, who played the bride in Bridesmaids and is a regular on SNL, is the daughter of the late, great Minnie Riperton.
A bit of cross thread pollination now. Alice and Matthew Marra, members of Dundee band, the Hazey Janes, are the kids of the late. great Michael Marra.
Pearl Aday appears on US TV show with poppa Marvin.
