Hello! My son had an iPad for Christmas and I back it up to my iMac. However, on the last occasion I did it, it plonked his songs onto my iTunes. Does anyone have an idea how I can stop this happening. None of the settings seem to help.

Hi Poppy,
I think the only way to do it is to set him up a separate login for your Mac – that’s what I do for my kids. Then it’ll create a separate iTunes library for him and he can sync/back up to that.
I may be wrong that that’s the only way, but it works fine for us. (Plus I can then set parental controls for the kids’ accounts etc.)
Thanks, Bob. I’ll look into that.
To be honest, I’m a bit confused by it. His iPad appeared on my iTunes as an icon and I transferred some songs to it for him. All well and good. I then saw this option to back-up his iPad to my machine, which I thought I might as well do. I’m fairly sure I did it once or twice before his songs started appearing in my iTunes library.
The other way to do it is not to use iTunes, get one of the free alternative iPod management tools like Yamipod (http://www.yamipod.com/main/modules/home/) and back it up through that.
