I am very lucky to have nearly reached a hundred programmes of a (mostly) weekly two-hour show on digital radio.
To mark this “momentous occasion”, I want to do something other than just play my favourite ‘independently-minded music from the post-punk period and beyond” (i.e. from 1978 to tomorrow)…
…Therefore perhaps you could post some appropriate songs that to you sum-up the above, as being perfect/important/influential over that period. Or just post some favourites that would fit-in well to my celebratory show.

I could do you some independently-released music, some of which I engineered (but, thankfully, none of which I played on).
You might have heard of Model Village, you probably won’t have heard of Tape Runs Out, The Pony Collaboration, Violet Woods, Straw Bear, Sink Ya Teeth, The Dawn Chorus,.. (continues on p. 94)
I have heard of Sink Ya Teeth! Very interesting they are too, a kind of ultra stripped down ACR (who they have supported.)
Congratulations on reaching your centenary!
How about Yargo’s ‘Carrying Mine’, Barry Adamson’s ‘Autodestruction’ or ‘True Love Will Find You in the End’ by Daniel Johnston?
Play Box 202 by Yachts.
A truly magnificent track by a much underrated band.
Fun fact for the audience is Henry Priestman from The Christians was a band member and songwriter.
They are also one of Mark Kermode’s favourite bands ad he introduced them on a re-union tour a few years back.
They also have many more excellent ‘power pop. tracks to explore over their two albums.
Big up for this – a great band.
Henry’s solo albums are definitely worth a listen too
More Yachting based trivia – John Campbell, Martin Dempsey and Henry Priestman formed It’s Immaterial when Yachts sunk.
Thirded and more Yacht based trivia, there is the imminent release of FFS the debut release of Yachts tribute band The Yachtles!
Some more suggestions…
He’s Frank by The Monochrome Set
A Song From Under The Floorboards by Magazine
Ceremony by New Order
Thank you for the responses so far…
…6 artists for definite inclusion already:
– I think I have “Pushin'” by Sink Ya Teeth
– massive fan of It’s Immaterial, so feel a two-fer-one with Yachts ahoy
– Barry Adamson may well appear more than once
– Daniel Johnston truly independent!
– @Nick-L – Joy Division/New Order still my favourite(s), and the programme is called Songs From Under The Floorboards, so there is a chance* of playing that track
(* absolute certainty)
Thank you again for the above suggestions, and particular gratitude to @fentonsteve for the introductions to a number of excellent “independent” artists…
…The 100th show will be broadcast live tomorrow (Thursday 3 November) at 5:00 p.m. UK time.
If you wish, you can listen here:

I shall also post a Mixcloud link at the end of the week.
And yer ’tis in all its “glory”…
…I talked too much – as usual – so had to cut a couple of tracks, but I think most of the above suggestions were included:
Well, that was fun. Roll on #200.
