@vince-black and I were concerned whether we had a quorum so we roped Alfred E Neuman into the mingle at the Brunswick Green in inner err Brunswick. Obligatory music t shirts donned (Steve Earle and a Folk Festival) we chatted music though suggesting Richard Thompson was overrated was perhaps notthe best topic to open the batting with given Vince’s blog name comes from an RT song.
After the usual topics – Word mag, vinyl v CD, whither assorted bloggers, why is Van Morrison such a prick etc we repaired to the adjoining parlour where a rather excellent local jazz singer Michelle Nicole was doing a free gig of audience requests with a band featuring drums, upright bass and 2 horns count em.
I’d had a long day so I left Vince to see the second set solo.
Hopefully we can muster more Afterworders the next time someone suggests a gathering.

Respect to Junior for driving 75 minutes to see a fellow Afterworder that he hadn’t previously met. We had a great evening and Michelle Nicolle and her band were an unexpected treat. She played my request of How High The Moon and scatted it to Harlem and back. Great to see a bunch of dyed-in-the-wool jazzers having fun
Nice work lads.
For those of us who couldn’t make it…

It sounds like you had a textbook Agenda for the mingle, lads! 🙂
Your love affair with 70s Oz pub rock got a run too Colin.
