For no better reason than it’s good music to work to, and a desire to have all my unsophisticated boogie bangers in one place, I’ve found myself making a playlist this week on the theme of Superior Chooglin’. It’s surely the only mix of this type to bring together Slade, T Rex, Captain Beefhear and the Dead, and takes on the joys of faithful old hounds, shiny 18 wheelers, disreputable roadhouses, and canning the can (whatever that means). If anyone suggests any further choogle tuneage worthy of investigation, please do post your thoughts and the playlist might expand beyond its current concise four hours and 15 minutes of endless boogie. Y’all be chioglin’ tonight..

Can I suggest a less obvious track by Thin Lizzy? This choogles…
Based on comments below, and the lack of further suggestions, I think I may have misinterpreted the OP. Apologies for that.
I think that fits the bill perfectly.
Thanks, man…in that case, here’s another…chooglin’ all the way down…
Well done that Man. Loving al agh o whispering Bob’s white suit jacket and white polo neck combo. Bet he had to be careful with the red wine in the green room.
Another Man choogle…
That’s a playlist after my own heart – thank you.
Thanks again, Martin.
Needing new specs, I read that as “sweaty lady love”. NOW WE’RE TALKING.
I think I might know why you’re needing new specs, feller.
Hmm .. needs some added Allmans
Big Star – Don’t Lie To Me
Endless Boogie – Smoking Figs In The Yard
Quicksilver Messenger Service – Who Do You Love pt 1 (3.33 edit)
Status Quo – Down Down
+ the power trio busking in Norwich market a couple of months back killing an instrumental version of Get Back. You had to be there.
Get Back is pretty choogly actually. Typical fans; they s as Leah’s get there first. Thanks for these other suggestions. I would never have thought of that Big Star song.
I have just put it on my Spotify library. I know a lot of the songs, but there is a lot I don’t know so I am looking forward to giving it a lash.
Hey, great to see some enthusiasm for this project (among my Facebook friends, less so). Will evaluate all your suggestions in good time. Thanks.
Looks a great playlist. You had me with the thread title to be honest. What a great track that is, and the Woodstock performance is blinding. Nice one!
Here you go
Hmm. My first thoughts were that this would have its work cut out bettering the Freebird Hitmakers’ Swamp Music which is already on the list. And the guitar effect and slight trace of horns at the start didn’t help its cause. But it is a great tune, thanks. It’ll definitely find a home on one of my Spotify playlists (there are a few).
The live one is especially good. You could try the JJ original?
I think current band Silver Synthetic are flying the flag for Chooglin. They wash up on these shores next week for some tour dates.
Bit of Global Village…keep on trucking’…
I’d never heard of Glival Village before and couldn’t place whether they were old or contemporary. Have since found their documentary on BBC Four – what a story.. And a pretty nice sound, akin to a pub rock Grateful Dead. Thanks for posting.
Terry Allen – New Delhi Freight Train
Little Feat did the original recording but Allen wrote it and his version rattles along nicely. Call it choo-chooglin.
Haven’t investigated the full list but, Creedence Clearwater Revival? Those boys could choogle entire weeks of your life away.
Choogling comes from choo choos, you know:
and:
While we’re in a chooglin’ pub rock vein…
Good to see this thread spring into life, and 10 of you following the playlist. Will listen to all of these tunes and adjust my choogle accordingly.
I defy you to sit still when this is on…
One of few cover versions that’s far superior to the original.
The peerless JJ Cale could do this endlessly and brilliantly
Lonesome Train.
Talking ol’ JJ, this track, oddly, reminded me of him.
It’s Abigail Lapell and about a month old.
Superb, Retro – is that representative of what she generally sounds like?
It’s a good rekkid; lashings of vintage reference with enough of her own character to carry it off.
I see your point. Very much so.
It also sounds a bit like ‘After Dark’ by Tito and the Tarantulas. From ‘From Dusk Till Dawn’. Dawn
Eh?
I think this choogles. Been humming it all afternoon after this thread.
This choogles – uh, hopefully it’s not too fast to be included…
Ditto…
This choogles, sort of. Mostly.
.
No wonder David Palmer’s services were dispensed with. Very un-prepossessing horse-faced lad.
I love his vocals on CBAT. Sings like an angel, looks like Baldrick.
Super fine singing on “Dirty Work” right enough.
Maybe not the most typical of their oeuf, but still a stonker!
