I’ve only just noticed that Television’s Marquee Moon contains a riff from Creedence’s version of ‘Heard it Through the Grapevine’. It comes in at 6:52

Musings on the byways of popular culture
I idly observed last night that when I was twenty five I carried maybe 15 phone numbers in my head and only one “password” – my ATM pin. Now I have only one phone number in my head (my own) and about 15 passwords..
Interesting observation Mr Robot. I can remember phone numbers from my teenage years but can’t remember my own mobile after 2 years of having it.
My local auction house of choice has a monthly auction of “proper stuff” next week – as opposed to the weekly auction of tat that I prefer to frequent. Last month they auctioned off a keytar and a full-sized Dalek. This month they have a couple of guitars that may have some of you drooling. They do nothing for me.

I have heard it said that CCR’s version of Grapevine was the template for the sound of Marquee Moon-era Television. Whatever – I think they’re both brilliant.
As a 47 year old scratching something I take solace these days in that I’m not listening to things that look a toothpaste advert for heroin addicts blessed as it may be by the Jesuit Punk Teeth Police.
Strictly prescription mushroom fawn.
I don’t think there is an Al Green track I don’t like.
Masters Of Reality should be famous.
What are cushions actually for?
Do they have a specific purpose, or are they just “there”?
How much did the dalek go for…?
There is a subscription to view the sales price but the estimate was £300 – £500. I think it went for closer to the £300 mark + 15% commission.
Little-known Rock Fact: Martin Gore can speak Spanish, thanks to his Spanish mother!
While listening to the excellent remastered Edwin Starr album “Soul Master” this morning, the penny finally dropped as to why “Oh How Happy” is the only song of his that I’ve never been able to love quite as much as I love the others: it’s because you can very easily go from singing that song into singing “Deutchland Deutchland Über Alles” (yes, I know that verse isn’t used anymore, but I’m sure I’m not the only one hearing that line in my head when it’s played…)
Marquee Moon and Cosmo’s Factory – probably both in my all time Top Ten albums. And yet I’d never noticed that. Obvious now you mention it….
Adam Buxton is almost certainly a national treasure.
His newish podcast ( 6 episodes so far) is proof of this & is well worth checking out if you have a fondness for A & J type stuff.
Agree with this. His jingles are good too. I especially enjoyed the Rob Brydon episode
