Ian Anderson is not well.

Although perhaps not quite as unwell as the “my days are numbered” quote might suggest:

Not that it has anything to do with anything, but he and I are exactly the same age, to the day, and suffer from the same condition. But that’s as far as it goes – I can’t play the flute, and standing on one leg is a bit iffy.
So nothing in common then.
How about the piles and ED status?
Fine, thanks for asking 😉
He believes it was caused by years of being on stage with the oil based smoke machines.
Or more probably, smoking.
Aren’t all of our days numbered? We are all dying, just at different rates. Then, there’s always a Blackpool tram…

He claims he was never a drug taker. Fair enough. Is this like he was never progressive?
Yes early pictures and film of Ian he’s always got a tab going. Rather like Joni Mitchell blaming “neck problems” for losing most of her voice rather than vast numbers of cigs, I’m taking an Occam’s Razor view on this. I take hope in him saying he’s had it for a while. I’m in denial really, on this one.
That’s a shame. He was such a superb singer in his prime. Definitely the cigs one would think, and from what I’ve consistently read, he was never into drugs, even pot. Apparently he often used to toss unlit joints back into the crowd when they landed on stage.
A 1970s rawwwkkk star “not” on coke.
My God, that must have taken some doing.
“Oh good, another hanger-on coked up to the eyeballs. When does this tour end?”
I rather like the early Tull, their debut L.P. is wonderful. I wish him well.
A fine fellow but hardly noteworthy through the years.
I disagree. I think his skills as a songwriter are superb, and deserving of much wider appreciation. Of course, as is the case it’s damn hard to keep meeting that creative bar as the years go by, but Ian Anderson should definitely have a seat at the top table.
