Where to begin indeed. Some people don’t like this scene. It’s my favourite scene in one of my favourite movies.
One the most beautifully transporting scenes in all of cinema. Impossible to listen to the tune without thinking of it.
RIP Burt, that songbook is just outrageous.
Wonderful songwriter and composer. A sad loss but what a legacy!
Amazing legacy and the updated Painted from Memory release next month with him and Costello will be very poignant.
I am sure Costello will offer a suitable tribute to him at his upcoming residency at the Gramercy Theatre in New York. He was rightly in awe of Burt’s talent.
The man had a huge talent, and countless other talented souls took his work and made it shine, many times over. RIP and condolences as appropriate.
Don’t mention Rupert Everett, whatever you do. Though that song is so strong, even he couldn’t completely ruin it.
A writer of songs that are destined to be played and loved for as long as there are people to listen to them.

One of the absolute greats. Was fortunate enough to see him in concert in 2016 and it was magnificent – stone cold classic after stone cold classic, and in between brilliant story-telling, humour and wisdom. Just a memorable night. RIP.
