I Am Trying To Break Your Heart – Wilco documentary.
I haven’t seen it yet but it’s available for free although you can donate and benefit a Chicago charity of Wilcos choice and the 4K transfer they are working on.
‘May 5 to 12: I Am Trying To Break Your Heart (2002, 92 minutes)
Sam Jones’ seminal documentary captures the band Wilco and the creation of their record Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. A film which not only looks at a turbulent chapter in the band’s history, but also a breakthrough moment in the struggle for artistic freedom in the corporate-dominated music industry. Rolling Stone hailed it as “one of the greatest music documentaries of all time.”‘

It doesn’t paint Jay Bennet in a very good light. He was actually in the process of suing Jeff Tweedy For breach of contract to pay for a hip-replacement surgery he needed when he died in 2009.

He thought Wilco was a collaboration. He was wrong. And Tweedy was in a very bad place at the time, a drug addict (as was Bennett). In Tweedy’s book he says Bennett had to go otherwise he would bring him down together with him.
