Guess you can’t have 300,000 people in one place without toilets, medicals, and security anymore.
What a bummer man.

No doubt the Fyre shitshow spooked investors. Not that the original Woodstock needed breadheads to say if it was going to happen or not.

Something I’ve always wanted to do, so I’d already made the decision to make the pilgrimage this year, not to the Woodstock 50 festival but the original site at Bethel. I have booked to see Santana and the Doobie Brothers on the Saturday night at the Bethel Pavilion and I’ve got my Airbnb booked in a nearby village. Am still considering whether to go see Ringo & Co on the Friday. Must dig out my tie-dye and poncho…

Remember to avoid the orange acid.
nickduvet says
That’s OK, I dropped the brown acid 😉

If you’ve not seen it, Ang Lee’s film Taking Woodstock is very nice.
nickduvet says
yeah, seen that. Liev Schreiber’s role is a long way from Ray Donovan. For anyone interested in the back story to the ’69 festival, the ‘Woodstock Diaries’ DVD is worth checking out. Also Michael Lang’s book ‘The Road To Woodstock’ is a good read.

I hear the Ringo shows are fun. Who has he got with him ?
nickduvet says
@junior-wells
The Scots contingent of Hamish Stuart and Colin Hay joining regulars Luke and Gregg Rolie (they lean heavily on Toto and Santana in the set list) and they also feature Edgar Winter, so it should be fun. I’ve booked my ticket since I last posted. John Fogerty has been announced for Sunday but tickets not on sale yet.

look forward to the review

You could take a small drive to see the town of er … Woodstock. Not masses to see there, but they have regular gigs and there is a decent record store (I used to live in the area).

@dai
Yes, I want to visit Woodstock while I’m there. Still familiarising myself with the local transport services. Do you know if there are buses connecting Woodstock and Bethel?
dai says
@nickduvet Bus services not great in that area. There is (or was) a bus from Woodstock to New York City once or twice daily, not sure where it stops though. Closer to the river and south there are commuter trains (Metro North) but you would probably have to also use Uber if indeed that is a possibility.
nickduvet says
OK thanks, good to know. I will investigate the buses from NYC and check out the Uber coverage too.
nickduvet says
contrary reports coming out
