I’m not a chronic consumer but if I want to clean my house from top to bottom in a day and have fun doing it,I find a couple of joints coupled with the right music works wonders.

  1. Wouldn’t work for me if I still indulged. I took the Bill Hicks line – when your stoned you can do everything as well as normal, you just realise that it isn’t worth the effort.

  2. I definitely get into music more intently and take better photos when I’m stoned.

    For the former, I have to overcome various anxieties that hooch often triggers (already there of course but just more prone to surface when stoned) and for the latter, it is the challenge of not making technical blunders.

  3. A major soporific. Good if you need it. A pest if you don’t. These days i need a slower metabolism like I need the extra lbs I have acquired, so it’s a pleasure that has to be foregone.

  4. Pretty much the exact opposite to your experience, @bricameron.
    I’m a naturally lazy procrastinating kind of person anyway, and it made me even lazier. My house was an absolute tip when I was puffing and my look was very unfashionably (and unattractively) dishevelled.
    Loved being stoned, particularly on good grass or Red Lebanese hash, that feeling of invincibility that sometimes came (but only sometimes), but I got bored with the company I tended to keep.
    Other stoned people, who tended to drone on about being stoned, getting stoned, who’d got what and how much it cost, the activities of the drug squad etc. to the exclusion of all else.
    And probably I was just as bad.
    Haven’t indulged for the last 20 years or so and consequently managed to earn a decent living and not be broke all the time as a result. I don’t miss it enough to consider starting again.

  11. The trouble with recreational use of dope is it makes you think ‘big’ about ‘little’ matters; think ‘deeply’ about ‘shallow’ things.

    Best left to professionals like Cheech and Chong and The Furry Freak Brothers.
