Here’s something you may have missed. David Hepworth and Mark Ellen have done five episodes of The Essay on Radio 3. “The Earl Grey Whistle Test.”
No idea what it’s like, haven’t listened yet, but The Essay is a quiet wee gem of a programme and it’s definately of interest round these parts…
ahem:
No chatting, though. Just individually reading out their (excellent) essays on a variety of subjects, except for the first episode, on which they’re both present.
Far too polite and restrained.
NOT ONE mention of Van’s harmonica..
I enjoyed those 5 episodes. Thanks for the link!
He’s (Hepworth) preaching to the converted here though, which makes it all a bit meh… cos I’m sure many of us have heard these HORA’s before
Not listened to these so quite prepared to be criticised for not giving them a fair hearing but having overdosed on their overwhelming smugness in their recent books I’ve had it with these two.
Same goes for Danny Baker, although I did enjoy his Euro 2016 rant.
