I saw the much praised Jabra Revo headphones in HMV today for £50 and nearly bought a pair but realised I don’t really like full sized headphones any more, I prefer in ear, as long as they are comfortable. Any recommendations? I use them mainly for watching film and TV on the iPad as I prefer to listen to music over speakers so bass is not a priority whereas clarity is.
As ever, my thanks in advance.

……or even “best earphones”
I have a pair of Revos on @h-p-saucecraft‘s recommendation. Regardless of whether or not you like on-ears, they remain the best headphones I’ve ever owned. They’re incredible.
Bud-wise, you can’t beat SoundMagic E10s. They’re cheap as chips and better than most buds at four times the price.
Are they comfy Bob? I’ve seen good reviews but they must be comfortable.
Hate to say it, because I don’t care for the brand, but titanium in-ear Beats ‘phones are the business. Expensive, yes, but *the* business.
Maybe some Black Friday deals around.
I just ordered myself a new pair of Senheiser Momentum on-ear phones because they were a black friday deal. I realise this is absolutely no help to you at all…
I have a pair of Bose earbuds, can’t tell you the model name because they’ve changed everything, but they look like this.
You need to spend a little time adjusting them to your ears (3 different fittings), but they’re very comfortable and sound great. Those weird pixie ear things really help to keep them secure in your ears when you’re moving about, handy if you’re watching old ToPs on your iPad. Handy little carrying case too. NB they come with and without remotes for use with iPhone etc.
I do not work for Bose.
Yeah, mine have extra bits too, which does seem to help. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Monster-iSport-Victory-Ear-Headphones/dp/B00BOTPPL0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1448744678&sr=8-1&keywords=isport+victory
They’re designed for sport so extra stable. The key thing for the first is that the buds sit at an angle from the drivers. I have always found the ones which are straight fall out with the least provocation.
For what it’s worth, my recommendation as well. The ear fittings are perfect and sound perfectly good.
Another recommendation for Bose ear buds. I have the IE2’s – not sure what the current equivalent is – and use for listening to movies / TV on the ipad and the iPod on the go. Sound very very good and are very comfortable.
I mainly use my iPod on the walk to and from work, so it has to be buds come winter as I can’t wear a hat with cans (and I think cans look wrong when you’re suited and booted, but that’s just me.)
I bought a pair of ISport Victory buds from HMV yesterday in a Black Friday deal – £30 down from £130, the looking around online shows that they usually go for 80 or 90. If you can find any left (I think I picked up the last pair in Chelmsford just after 9 in the morning) the deal runs for the rest of the weekend. Early days, but I’m happy with the fit and sound of the buds.
These are much better than the price suggests. You can treat them like shit and they still produce great sounds:
Anyone over 30 seen in public with large headphones should be slapped round the head and sent home to think about what they have done
These are ridiculously amazing for the price:

The Mr and I both have a pair and can’t quite get over how excellent they are.
Hi Hannah. “Waves”
Eleven quid on Amazon! Gotta be worth a punt surely?
Dave! *waves*
That’s what we thought too. And yes, they totally are.
UPDATE: I received two pairs of these this morning. Initial impressions are that they are pretty comfortable and seem to have a good range. I would say they are excellent for the money (two pairs for a shade under £20). For speech based stuff TV and films, they could be a little brighter but that might be down to my ageing ears and tinnitus.
Thanks all. I’ll let you know how I get on in case anyone else is thinking of buying.
…I’ve got “dodgy” ears, but do like:
– the new in-ear ipod/ipad/iphone earphones
– Sennheuser (with noise reduction) headphones for long-haul flights
– new favourites – ITX-1000 Yurbuds. I am in no way “sporty” anymore, but as I work/walk/garden etc., they are very good.
I highly recommend SoundMagic E10s. Excellent in-ear phones and very reasonably priced. £30 in Richer Sounds right now.

@davebigpicture They’re super comfy. I tend to put Comply memory foam tips on them, which makes the the proper bees’.
I’m using Soundmagic E50s at the moment which have been brilliant. I wear them most of the day at work (8-14 hours) so I do tend to get through earphones a lot but these seem very robust and the sound quality is the best have heard. Very good for £50.
I also use Comply foam tips as well but at the mo I’m trying the Inairs foam tips, bit cheaper and you get ten in a box.
See also the Nocs NS500s, very robust but not as good sounding as the E50s’s.
I have the Bose noise cancelling version of these and I can safely say they are the best headphones I have ever owned. They are expensive but you get what you pay for.

These – bought recently after some very good reviews. They’re made out of brass – so hopefully last a while – and to my ears the best I’ve heard (though that’s from a fairly limited choice). Decent price as well.
