I’ve been enjoying the 2-disc version, which arrived last Friday. I reckon it’s enough for me. The booklet, as always, is very good too.
Which version did you go for, JW?
from memory the 4 disc vinyl.
“From memory”?
Were you drunk when you placed the order? 🙂
Mmm, yummy vinyl.
well I to’d a fro’d and can’t quite remember whether i ended on a to or a fro
but think vinyl.
Mine (the 6-disc set, without “leopard-skin CD spindle”, sadly) hasn’t “arrived” – I bought it in a regular record shop last week.
I wouldn’t worry, it’s not even a CD spindle, but a little plastic 45 adaptor/spider.
You can see it at the end of this short unboxing video.
Thanks {deep sigh of relief}
so in a shop in Berlin last week
delivered to MB a week ago
and just hit my place today having ordered many moons ago
not impressed
Triple LP (and 2 CDs) is on it’s way. But the autorip from amazon gave me the 6 CD version (an error?)
I’ve bought a few LPs from amazon where I’ve received the Deluxe version as the autorip, although this usually results in a handful of extra tracks, not four CDs worth!
As noted elsewhere a friend in an Eel Market leant me his 18cd version. Infinity does indeed go on trial – I gave up somewhere through cd7, it’s just all too much. For every “wow, that’s better than the original album” there’s fifteen “stop doodling around”. There are also a finite number of stoned exchanges between Bobs Dylan and Johnston one can listen to.
I got a better and more meaningful idea of what was going on during that wild mercury time from Andy Kershaw’s recent radio prog “50 years of Highway 61” than I did from this sprawling mess.
No doubt the Eel Market now has the 500cd Everything Ever Recorded by Bob 65-66 Including That Famous Crap He Took edition but no thanks, no siree….. The official albums are more than enough genius for me.
I want Juniors 4 disc vinyl I only got 3!
He’s got three, although one of the discs got broken into two pieces in the post 🙂
I bought the double-CD, then weakened and got the big box with 6 CDs, as that’s what I did for the Basement Tapes set, which was stunningly great. If I had still been jobless I would have settled for a torrent, but as I’m earning again I just had to splurge*. I’ll give the double to a mate fer Christmas I expect.
*Note to self – time for another mini-mingle FOPP raid in Brizzle methinks….
HI Vulpes, only if we can go to that nice cafe for Brekkie again. Any other SW’ers up for it?
