I love Detectorists but it seems perfect as it is. I’m not sure I would want them to milk it too much with another series of diminishing returns. Mind you, I said that after the second series!

I particularly like it when Sheila makes her homemade lemonade for the whole detecting club, who have difficulty drinking it because it’s so sour. Hilarious.
It’s going to be like getting a precious, rare and irreplaceable LP from your shelves to play – you’re looking forward to hearing the treasures it contains and enjoying it once again, but you’re consumed with paranoia in case you’ll scratch it and it’ll be forever tainted.
Looking forward to the return of Simon & Garfunkel. To keep the customer satisfied, so to speak.
Yer man who plays Art has recently appeared on TV as the permanently trouserless ghost of an MP. Can’t say he hasn’t got a range.
He also wrote or co-wrote the script for the masterpiece Paddington 2 (16:15 BBC1, Christmas Eve – if you haven’t seen it then make sure you do).
Those films are absolutely fucking boss.
Simon Farnaby – he’s one of the Horrible Histories regular cast too…can’t see him without humming”Stupid deaths, stupid deaths…” to myself.
They’re funny ‘cos they’re true, you know.
Paddington 2 is – and I say this with a straight face – an absolutely gorgeous film: warm, funny and lovely.
I have the blu-Ray and I’m watching it now. This could get messy. I started to tear up during the studio idents before the film had even started.
It’s a masterpiece from start to finish.
The best (well only) good news I’ve heard for months.
But remember Andy’s ma in law is no longer able to take part. (RIP)
A massive loss to this show. I loved her relationship with Andy – she was a towering presence and Mackenzie Crook was great at being sheepish and intimidated. Which made it all the more touching when she had that conversation in series 3 about “hobbyists” and how her daughter would admire him for quitting a job through principle, not castigate him.
Never watched it.
I feel this could be a nice early Xmas present!
