Just hearing that Greg Allman has passed. Not that prolific in recent years but his cover of These Days is still my favourite version of that song.

Musings on the byways of popular culture
A great singer and, on their day, the Allman Brothers were the best band in the world.
He did well to last as long as he did.
It was all going so well until about 3 minutes in, when he remembered he had meant to leave the cash out back with the roadies to give to the guy turning up with the blow, when his concentration just skipped out the door.
I was given a copy of Live at the Fillmore on tape and played to death, when I got a CD player went and bought it as first purchase….remains a true classic ,and loved recent return to form releases too.RIP

Gruntin’ Greg grunts no more. I was surprised to learn he was only 69. I thought he was older. As others have said, great singer and musician and wrote some top songs too. What a career, and what a life. He certainly packed a lot in.
Soar high above us Greg, RIP forever more.
I remember buying Laid Back on a whim 1973, stunned by the content, still a favourite record. I think I got it ahead of anything by the Brothers Band, tho’ caught up soon enough.
Anyone left from the first line up? Betts is about it, isn’t he?
Playing his music in our house all day.
This song is in my All-time Top 3, and it always brings a tear to my eyes.
RIP Gregg, sexiest man with a beard ever.
