Where it’s either 94 degrees F or 34c (don’t quote me on that) whichever way your pendulum swings. Either way it’s Mediterranean heat complete with scirocco. Just got. Here after a gruelling 19 hour drive ( ferry trip included) nodding off with a local brew. Happy Summer!

A happy summer to you too, Bri!
I googled and presume that it’s Missoulla, Montana. Founded in 1860 as the Hellgate Trading Post!
Look forward to hearing about your impressions at some point. Sounds extremely scenic.
Glad you clarified. I was imagining the Missoulla bar in the cente of Chelmsford (2 for 1 on Jaegerbombs before 10pm), the one next to the ‘Spoons.
Indeed it is! Family here so not the first visit. However, I must comment on crossing the border at Blaine (Washington State). Border guard extremely convivial and professional. Next up,a mere thousand yard drive to the gas station to fill up on the less expensive petrol. We pull in to a brightly lit extremely clean gas station pumping out Sir Frank Sinatra classics over the pa. Usually you have to pay before you pump. I don’t know how many U.S. Dollars this will take. The classy American gent manning the station says I’ll just go ahead and authorize it for you and you just come back and pay when you’re done,Son. Isn’t that something?
That is service! Travel can be full of surprises like this.
Sinatra on the PA was an auspicious start to your visit.
True but my point was to point out how great not only Amerian citizens are but that coming from another western democracy I felt freer.
And the border guard was convivial and professional…that’s not a given these days.
Talking of which, I crossed the border in the other direction on a bus once, and the Canadian border guards hauled off the only black person on the bus and gave him a serious going-over, went through his luggage, took him out back for questioning etc. The bus had to wait for him. When he came back he said he was at university in Vancouver and it wasn’t the first time that had happened. All a bit of a surprise, really.
Canadian border guards are the worst! Even if you are Canadian and white and were born there. Just ask my Sister in law.
Hmm I’d been led to believe that Canadians were the more civilised variety of the genus North Americanus.
I am disappoint. If anything, I’d imagined Canadian Border Guards to be retired couples (possibly ex-Mounties) running log-cabin souvenir shops, where they’d give you a welcome pack containing a piece of cheddar cheese, a miniature canoe made out of tree bark, and a keyring with a picture of Her Madge.
Great video.
yep, quite clever and not a bad song
presumably they had some “issues” with Canada? They’re in the UK this week BTW – looking forward to seeing them live for the first time.
In fairness they did stop and apprehend the bomber that you never heard about who was planning to blow up LA- X on the eve of Y2K. But that’s still not the point.
I never heard about that

aaah thanks for the elaboration
