This is a great article in the Guardian today. Patrick Kielty sums up the troublesome Irish position on Brexit with wit and clarity.
My natural inclination to dismiss Kielty as a fluff light entertainment presenter was tempered a long time ago by a friend of mine who knew him growing up and has always testified to his intelligence and authenticity. And I think reading this article proves this right.

Read it earlier and completely agree.
Witty, insightful and informed. I think given the troubles experienced in NI and the relative calm since, that the younger generation have a far better understanding of democratic values and balances. Possibly streets ahead of their UK mainland peers.
Keilty’s article was measured and informative. The DUP are dinosaurs who stand in the way of democracy and social freedoms aided and abetted by our own dinosaurs, May, Corbin & Company. A second referendum, even with all the hysteria that it will cause, is the only solution.
Yup. My only quibble would be with his statement ‘many Tories don’t give a stuff about the people of Northern Ireland.’ I’d replace ‘Tories’ with ‘MPs across the House’. One of the reasons I will always have some regard for Major and Blair whatever else they may have done, is because they did give a stuff and worked to bring peace and stability back to the country. These current bastards are quite prepared to undo that work.
Outstanding article. More sense per sentence than the Commons is capable of these days.
